Wow. This is gritty man. I actually have no idea if the thirteenth Phantom is about to die. I don't really know the history of the thirteenth Phantom so don't know if this DC comic is just trying to up the tension by alluding to the fact that this is going to be the death of the thirteenth Phantom or not. Regardless, the torture and stuff is unsettling for my favorite hero.
Meanwhile the twenty-first Phantom is still in the hunt for the 'Chessman', wither a guy, a pirate group or whatnot. It is still kind of a mystery. Especially since we find out that Charles Chessman, our initial lead is a good friend of the Palmer family (especially Diana's).
Pretty good story here. Two issues in, on a four parter and well, I don't know how I am going to feel about the death of a Phantom. I mean, The Phantom has obviously dies twenty times, but other than in the Phantom Movie (the getting stuck in the back with a knife, which has also been mentioned in the Moonstone comics), they've never gone into detail about the 'ordeal' it must be for a hero to be unmasked, and degraded before his death.
We shall see.
