The Spectre #16
Jim Corrigan calls his old partner Lt. Pete Quarrel to help him out. Pete reluctantly agrees and drives Jim around New York City til they find the body of the criminal Jim shot with a ghost bullet. Pete agrees to help Jim stop The Blood Red Moon Gang, and Pete quickly learns that the Spectre dwells inside his old partner. Pete then goes along with Jim to stop the Blood Red Moon Gang, where he witnesses the Spectre destroy a demon, burn down a lighthouse, and kill the New York branch of the Blood Red Moon.
After seeing this Pete emits to Jim, that he now believes in souls, and heaven and hell.
Every Cop a Criminal
The Spectre #17
Pete Quarrel is investigating 8 drug pushers being murdered in two weeks, then when the latest victim is a Narc, Pete calls on his old partner Jim Corrigan and his alter ego the Spectre. The pair track down the leader of the drug ring, Groschen, a dirty cop and Quarrel's partner before Corrigan. Pete asks Jim to use the Spectre to bring the drug ring down. Jim reluctantly agrees and after the Specter kills Groschen and his thugs in gruesome ways, regrets his desicion and takes his anger out on Corrigan. Quarrel pushes Corrigan and Jim punches Pete and quickly gets shot in the head.
Zombie Transit
The Spectre #18
Pete is there when Jim Corrigan is shot in the head and killed. He is there when Jim's body is taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, and taken to the morgue. Pete is the one who calls Kim Liang and tells her that her boyfriend is dead. Then when Jim becomes a walking corpse, Pete and Kim follow the path of destruction that the walking corpse leaves behind. Pete is there when Jim returns to his apartment, and it is there when The Spectre informs Jim's friends that he and Jim now share a body.
