Peter is the brother of Nathan Petrelli. He has the ability to mimic and copy anyone's super powers. He can later recall and use these abilities. It hasn't been revealed how many he can copy. Due to his father taking away his abilities, Peter was powerless for a while until he injected himself with a formula that gives him abilities. Now he can only absorb people's powers by touch and he can only have 1 at a time.
Peter is an ex-house nurse. He lives in New York, along with his mother Angela and his brother Nathan.
Peter first started having visions of flying. When he told his brother, Nathan Petrelli, who was at the time, running for Congressman, he passed it off as crazy daydreams. Peter later calls Nathan to watch him fly. Peter jumps off a building, and Nathan flies up to catch him, but loses control, so Peter flies the rest of the way down. It was a nasty fall, and Peter was hospitalized. He had also gained Isaac Mendez's power of precognition. He drew a stick figure drawing of two people flying. Later, Nathan tried to explain to Peter that they both had flown, but Peter thought he was lying. Nathan then pointed out that Peter was already levitating off the ground, just like in the drawing.
Peter quit his job as a nurse, and ran to confide in Simone Deveaux, Isaac's ex-girlfriend, and daughter of the man that Peter was nursing. They spent the night together, leaving Simone unsure about her feelings towards Peter.
Later, on the subway, Hiro Nakamura time traveled back from the future to visit Peter. He told him that he was the one that they needed. "Save the cheerleader, save the world," was his message to Peter, and then he vanished.
Peter later showed more of his ability of precognition when he finished a painting of Sylar killing Claire Bennet. Simone told Peter that she had sold that painting to a man in Las Vegas, named Linderman. Peter became convinced that this painting would help him save the cheerleader.
Peter later travels to Odessa, Texas, and meets Claire, the regenerating cheerleader. Sylar soon appears to kill Claire, but grabs the wrong cheerleader as Claire escapes. He catches up with her, but is tackled off the roof of the high school by Peter. Sylar gets up and walks away from the fall, but it appears that Peter is dead. When Claire comes to see if he is alright, Peter begins to heal himself. After he is conscious again, he tells her to call the police, but the police arrest Peter since he is covered in blood that they think is someone else's.
Peter eventually ends up in New York. He absorbed Ted Sprague's radiation powers and it looked as if Peter would be the cause of New York suffering from a nuclear explosion. Their mother and Nathan believed it was inevitable that Peter explode. As the newly elected Congressman, Nathan would be crucial in bringing together the survivors and using this to make his way to the White House. At the last minute, Nathan changed his mind and was there for his brother. Grabbing him, the two flew into the air. As the others looked on, a nuclear explosion could be seen.
After the explosion, Peter flew his unconscious brother Nathan Petrelli, to the hospital. Peter, was the attacked, and recruited by "Bob". He joined Bob's organization with the hopes of finding a cure for his powers to prevent hurting his loved ones yet again, but what he didnt know, is that he was actaully held there against his will. This was revealed to him by "Adam", who was also known as "Takezo Kensei". The regenerating english samurai from hundreds of years ago, when Hiro Nakamura traveled thorugh ancient china. Adam revealed that it was actually a prison, an that there has been a developing cure since he arrived there decades ago. After that revelation. Peter tested that theory, only to find out it was true. They then developed a plan to escape, in which Peter would fake taking his daily dose of "hatian pills", primarily to heal Peters brother of his wounds. He would allow Bob's daughter "Elle" to shock him, in order to distract her from his consumption of thepills. In order to escape, he waits for five days without the pills, and walks right through the facilities walls with Adam. After a successful escape, they visit Nathan, who is terribly scarred from his encounter with "Nucleur Peter". Adam injects his blood into Nathans IV drip, healing him in minutes. When they arrive outside of the hospital, the are confronted by Elle, and the hatian. They split up, and Peter is knocked into a storage container by the hatian. The hatian cuffs him, and erases his memories, in order to allow peter a better future.
Two Weeks Later...
With no sign of Peter, Nathan's political career doesn't go so well. He seems to have lost his motivation. Peter finds himself handcuffed in a storage container in Ireland. Some crooks had planned to break in and steal a shipment of iPods and found a, barely clothed, Peter instead. Peter has no recollection of how he got there. Peter eventually learns his identity, and travels to fill in the blanks of his mind. He again encounters Adam, who tells him that he may regain his memories by mimicing his power. He stares at a picture of himself and his brother Nathan as ispiration to heals his mind, and he regains all his memories.During all that Peter accidentally jumps ahead in time to june 14,2008 with Caitlin to desolate Times Square in New York City where they learn of a virus that wipe out 93 percent of the human population he later goes back to the present without Caitlin, where he meets with Adam Monroe. Adam tells him to think of something or someone close to him, and he'll remember, with the help of the healing ability. After remembering who he is, Adam manipulates Peter into going with him to "destroy" the virus, when actually Adam wants to realese it. Next, Peter and Adam go to find Victoria Pratt, a biological engineer, who created the virus. After she attempts to kill them, Peter pulls the location of the virus out of her head, and after she yet again tries to kill them, Adam kills her. When the arrive at Primatech Paper in Odessa, Texas, time is frozen by Hiro, and he and Peter fight. Peter takes him down pretty quickly and he and Adam go to get the virus. After straining himself by opening the vault, Nathan and Matt turn up and Nathan manages to convince Peter that Adam's evil, and Peter destroys the virus. After Peter destroys the virus, Nathan holds a press conference to tell people about the Company and also people with abilities, Nathan gets shot and Peter chases after the assassin. It was revealed that the assassin was future Peter. Peter chases the killer to the toilet and he then gets trapped inside a villain named Jesse Murphy in Level 5 of the Primatech facility.
When all the villains escape, Peter escapes with them. Peter pretended to be Jesse and robbed a bank along with the villains from Level 5 but he cover was blown when another villain named Knox asks him a trick question about where Jesse's from. Knox attacks Peter and Peter finds out that Jesse's power and he attacks all the villains. Just when Peter does that time freezes. Future Peter teleports to the bank and he releases Peter from Jesse body. Peter asks why he is here and future said that he's there to save the world. Future Peter then teleports Peter to show him what will happen 4 years in the future.
When Peter gets to the future, Peter sees that everything was normal but future said that it was all normal but with one big difference. Peter then sees lots of people with abilities like super-speed and flight. Peter asks how is that possible and future Peter tells him that a formula is available and can give anyone abilities, he also says that because of all these power, the world would end soon. Future Peter says that he can't help because he has already made too many mistakes already and can't risk it. Future Peter tells Peter that the only way to stop this from happening is for him to learn Sylar abilities to know how things work so that Peter wouldn't do the same mistake the future Peter made. Future Peter is then shot by Claire and Claire tries to hunt down the present Peter. Peter escapes and visits the future Sylar, Sylar tells him that they're brothers and gains his ability but Sylar warns him of the hunger that comes with his ability. Claire and the Pineshearst company then finds Peter and attempts to capture him but they also killed Future Sylar's son, Noah by accident. Sylar gets angry and he explodes and takes out the whole Costa Verde with him. Peter is unconcious and is captured by the Pineshearst company. Claire tortures Peter and Nathan stops her and talks to Peter. Peter then starts to get the hunger that Sylar was telling him about. He cut opens Nathan's head and he kills Nathan. Peter realises what he has done and he teleports into Sylar's cell in the present. Sylar then realises that Peter has the hunger like him. Just at that moment, Angela Petrelli comes in and tries to stop Peter from hurting Sylar, Peter's hunger then strikes again and he starts to cut Angela's head open but Sylar stops him. Peter is then captured and was kept in a cell in Level 5 of the Company facility. Sylar then releases Peter from the cell because he needs his help to save Angela. Sylar asks for Peter's help but first he declines, then he accepts and he tries to surpress the hunger inside him. Peter reads the petrified Angela's mind and all he sees is a symbol. Sylar realises that the symbol is the symbol of the Pineshearst company and he tells Peter about it. Sylar wants to go with Peter but Peter doesn't let him so he locks him up in a cell. Peter goes to the Pineshearst company and he finds a group of villain and his father there.
Peter was then unconcious and he recalls when Nathan told him Arthur died up until when Arthur took his powers from him. Peter wakes up and finds himelf handcuffed to a lab table. Arthur walks in and tells him what he is doing. Peter said that if he doesn't stop, the world would end. Arthur then asks for Peter's help to prevent that future from happening. Peter refuses and threatens Arthur. Arthur tells Peter that if he doesn't change that attitude, he's grounded. Later, Peter tries to attack Arthur but failed, he was then taken to Mohinder Suresh to test a formula but Sylar stopped Mohinder doing that. Peter escapes but Sylar gets captured by Mohinder. Later Peter, still in the building looks for a exit in the Pinehearst facility. Peter couldn't find it and instead, he finds Sylar sitting in Arthur Petrelli's office. Peter tells Sylar to go but he tells him that he's not going anywhere but Peter is... Sylar teleknetically throws Peter out of the window. Just as Peter falls, Claire helps him up. Peter tells him that he doesn't have his ability to heal anymore and Claire wanders how Peter survived that 7 story fall. Claire then treats Peter's injuries and wounds, Peter believes that somehow, Sylar cushioned his fall using his teleknesis and Peter thinks that Sylar doesn't want him to die. Just then, Nathan walks in and asks what happened, Peter tells him what happens and Nathan tells Peter that he will find Arthur and search for answers. Peter fears that Nathan might get hurt but Nathan still goes.
Later, Peter and Claire was chased by Knox and Flint, first, Knox and Flint's primary target was Peter but later, the target was changed from Peter to Claire by Arthur after finding out that Claire was the catalyst needed for the formula to work. Peter and Claire later encounters Knox and Flint again but this time, Claire was captured by Flint and Knox but Peter later finds a way to defeat Flint and Knox and save Claire. After they escape Flint and Knox, they go to Primatech to search for help and when they got there, they find Matt and Daphne and Matt mistakes Peter for future Peter and pins him on to the wall but he later realises that it was the real Peter. Matt tells Peter that Angela is safe and when Peter and Claire get there, Nathan arrives too. Angela tells all the heroes that Arthur needs a third part of the formula to make it work and Claire realises that she is the catalyst.
All the heroes were then separated to stop Arthur's plan. Peter and Nathan were sent to Haiti to find the only man who could stop Arthur, the Haitian... Whilst flying to the Haitian's village, Nathan stops working because of the eclipse and Peter and Nathan falls into a river in Haiti. Peter and Nathan survives the fall but then end up disagreeing with each other and arguing, Peter tells Nathan that in the future, Nathan ends up working with Arthur. They were then later stopped by the Haitian. Haitian tells them to be quiet but Nathan was captured by the Haitian's brother. Peter and the Haitian was left with no choice but leave and save Nathan later on.
Later, Peter and the Haitian goes to where Nathan is held and saves him. Peter then decides that he would hold Baron Samedi's men while they escape. Peter tells Nathan and the Haitian to fly back to America and stop Arthur. Later, Peter was about to be captured by Baron Samedi but just before he was captured, the Haitian and Nathan comes to the rescue. Nathan flies and rushes Baron Samedi into a car but that doesn't harm him because of his inpenertrable skin. Haitian later then sacrifices his brother and kills Samedi. After, Nathan said that he thought about his father's proposal and decides to go on his father's side. Nathan flies off and Peter was left stranded in Haiti.
When Peter eventually made it home with the Haitian, he met up with his mother, Angela Petrelli, she told Peter that the only way to stop Arthur was to kill him, one bullet in the head. Peter at first thinks about it but he then finally picks up the gun and goes on his way. Angela also sends the Haitian with him to stop Arthur from using his abilities on Peter. Whilst on the way to Pinehearst, the Haitian asks if he should kill Arthur but Peter refuses and he wants to do it himself. When Peter gets to Pinehearst, he finds Arthur, Arthur tries to use his ability but soon realises that the Haitian was present and couldn't use his abilities. Arthur then tells Peter that he doesn't believe that he is willing to kill his own father. Peter thinks for a while and the Haitian soon tells him that he couldn't hold it any longer, Arthur was too strong. Peter eventually shoots Arthur but just when the bullet traveled through half way, it stopped. Sylar came out and asked Arthur if Arthur really was his father, Arthur told him he was but Sylar knew he was lying after gaining a new "lie detector" ability. After knowing that Arthur was lying, Sylar let the bullet travel to it's destined location and it hit Arthur straight in the forehead. Sylar then told Peter that Peter wasn't the killer, he was.
Peter doesn't leave Pinehearst and sits in the room where killed his father with his dead father. Later, Nathan enters the room and discovers Arthur's body and a gun in Peter's hand. Nathan instantly knew that Peter done it and Nathan said that he will follow in his father's foot steps and create the serum to give people's abilities. Nathan persuades Peter to join him but Peter refuses to a knocks him out. Peter later goes to the Pinehearst Lab and sees Mohinder about to inject himself with the serum but a quick flash appeared and the serum in Mohinder's hands were gone, it was Daphne stealing the serum but Mohinder didn't know and saw Peter coming, assuming it was him, Mohinder gets angry. Before Mohinder could attack Peter, Flint and Knox comes out and stops Mohinder, Peter asks them why their helping him and Flint tells him that once everybody has abilities, they won't be special no more. Peter and Flint then began to destroy the equipment in the lab and they destroyed all the serum the could find whilst Knox went up to sort out Nathan and destroy the formula once and for all. The knocked out Mohinder later wakes back up and tries to stop Peter and Flint and warns them that the serum is flamable but he couldn't make them stop so he runs away, Nathan later enters the lab and finds everything destroyed, Peter then tells Flint to stop because everything was destroyed but the foolish Flint continued and used his fire on the serum, the serum then instantly lights up and starts burning the lab. Nathan, Peter and Flint were stranded in the fire. Nathan starts to pass out. Peter then spots one more serum on the floor in the lab, he thought that the only way out was to fly out, he used the serum on himself and he jumped to Nathan and flew out with him just before the Pinehearst building exploded.
Peter and Nathan later lands on to a beach, Nathan was not only not grateful but instead, he gets angry about Peter using the serum for himself and calls him a hypocrite, Nathan and Peter argue and Nathan later gets fed up and flies away leaving Peter behind...
Volume 4: Fugitives
After the events at Pinehearst, Peter is a paramedic and is trying to keep under the radar, he recieves a call from Claire, his niece and she told him that Nathan was planning to round up the evolved humans and was about to capture to Matt Parkman. Claire tells that she's going to Parkman's apartment as soon as possible, Peter tells Claire that he'll go and talk to Angela. Peter calls for a cab and when he gets into the cab, he finds out that the driver was Mohinder Suresh, Peter and Mohinder discuss their abilities and talk about keeping under the radar, when they get to their destination, Mohinder lets Peter go without paying for the journey. Peter arrives at Angela's house and finds Nathan waiting for him. Nathan tells him that this was all his plan, but Peter doesn't believe him, Nathan invites Peter for dinner so that they could talk more and Peter accepts, Peter leaves but just as he was about to leave, Nathan asks him what abilities he has and Peter tells him that he could only fly.Peter goes back to his apartment but he finds Nathan waiting for him in there. Nathan tells Peter that what he was doing was for the greater good and asks Peter to join him but Peter refuses. Nathan asks for a hug and Peter hugs him but half way through the hug, Peter gets tasered by Noah Bennet. Claire wakes Peter up and Peter finds out that he was on a cargo plane, Peter touches Mohinder and he absorbs his super-strength and agility. Peter breaks out of the hand cuffs and Peter starts to attack the guards. Whilst trying to free Tracy, Peter accidentally absorbs Tracy's power and freezes the plane and makes a hole in the plane causing it to crash.
Peter crashes with the plane but he wasn't badly hurt and he was trying to escape the guards before it was too late but they were stopped when Noah holds a gun at Peter, Noah persuades Peter and Claire to go back to camp with him but eventually, Claire manages to persuade Noah to let Peter go. Peter continues running and runs into Tracy, Peter makes a plan to get military uniform and they succeed, Tracy then tells Peter that she could trick Nathan because they both think the same way. Tracy tells Nathan that Peter was kidnapped by her and the only way to save him was to go to her and let her go free. Nathan knew that it was a trap and captures Tracy, Peter told Tracy before that he could only hang on to one ability at a time and Peter goes to Nathan and touches Nathan wihtout him knowing and Peter manages to fly away from the Nathan's team. Peter regroups with all the other heroes and starts to work together and make a plan to stop them selves being captured.
Volume 5 :Redemption
When Peter learns of a crash with people trapped in it, Peter leaves the ambulance and demonstrates great agility and strength with his powers and reaches the truck, tearing off the door and saving a pregnant woman as well as her husband. At the hospital, he reveals that the woman had twin daughters and plans to go take another shift despite having already worked a double, but his partner tells him its too late for that. At home, "Nathan" tries to call, but Peter ignores the call and tacks an article about his heroic actions up on a wall covered with other clippings.
At Peter's apartment,Noah Bennet approaches him for help. Peter reveals he's saved 53 people and currently has enhanced
Supertrenght as his power from Mohinder Suresh which he took to help save lives as he feels he needs to make up for his family's and The Company's mistakes. Noah enlists his help in investigating a safe-deposit box as the foe they're facing has super speed, which interests Peter.
At the bank, Peter's disappointed when all there turns out to be is a broken compass , but then Edgar shows up to attack them. Peter quickly replicates his power and enters a super speed battle against Edgar. Peter displays considerable control over his super speed and considerable fighting ability, enough to beat Edgar despite him being armed with blades and drives Edgar away. Peter and Noah take the bank manager to the hospital where he survives Edgar's attack thanks to their efforts. Outside, Noah holds the compass which doesn't react when he touches it, but it goes wild when Peter holds it. Noah tries to get Peter to keep it and help him, but he refuses saying he wants to save people his way and have nothing to do with Noah. When Noah asks why he helped, he said he simply wanted to get Edgar's power in order to help him at his job and then leaves with Noah calling after him to call his mother.
Later, Peter gives his partner food from a place in Boston which he presumably got using his new super speed, before the two get an emergency call over the radio that his partner wants to ignore as they're not on yet. Peter uses his new power to rush to the scene and finds a badly wounded Noah Bennet who tells him Edgar got the compass.
Peter prepares for another day at work when a process server appears to him and gives him a summons. Peter goes to work and visits Emma , asking for a report from her. Peter begins to tell her of his disbelief that someone he saved is suing him and then realizes that her headphones are unplugged. Emma is surprised and knocks over a cup. Peter helps her clean up and then leaves to meet the person suing him. This person is Samuel Sullivan , using the alias of "William Hooper". Peter doesn't recognize him but Samuel insists Peter's actions caused him to have a dislocated arm. Samuel tells Peter that he has errands to run and that he probably doesn't remember him because Peter's life is so stretched.
Later, Hesam asks Peter if he is being sued. Peter confirms this and Hesam reveals that a Mr. William Hooper was one of Peter's "rescues". He also tells Peter that everyone believes he is setting himself up to look like a hero. Peter hopes Hesam doesn't think this but he notes that Peter always saves the day while he just drives him. Peter returns home and finds a picture of Samuel on his wall of rescues. He visits Samuel in a park and meets with Samuel. Peter talks to him about life and the grief of loosing a loved one. Samuel is pleased with Peter and shakes his hand, promising to drop the lawsuit. As Samuel leaves, Peter sits and thinks until he hears beautiful music being played. Peter follows the music and finds that it is coming from Emma, who is playing a cello.
Peter later is called into work and is sent to a scene where a house has fallen into a sink hole . Samuel is in the shadows and concentrates on Peter's arm, causing a tattoo of a compass to appear.
Peter visits Noah and tries to show him the strange tattoo of the compass that appeared on his arm. He is confused when he discovers that the tattoo has disappeared and Noah believes that Peter simply imagined it. He leaves and bumps into Claire . He is unable to stay and tells her that he has to get back to work. Claire points out that he works in New York and Peter speeds away. While at work, Peter is visited by "Nathan" , who tells him that he has been discovering new abilities . Peter helps him figure out what one of his new powers is and helps him remember Kelly Huston . When "Nathan" leaves to investigate Kelly's disappearance, Peter offers to join him. "Nathan" tells him to stay, saying that he can handle it.
Peter has lunch with Angela and the two of them discuss how Peter has recently cut himself off from his family. Peter apologizes and tells Angela that he has changed. Angela suggests that he get a new career and make a fresh start but Peter says no. He notices the time and heads out to work, allowing Angela to stay in the apartment. While on his way to work, Peter sees Emma walking down the street. He watches her as she slowly backs away onto the road and into the path of a truck. Peter dashes across the road and saves her. He asks her if she is okay but Emma refuses to talk. She walks off alone and Peter tries to run after he but realizes that he can't. He kicks a can in frustration and is startled to see light emerge when it hits the ground. Peter then realizes that he replicated Emma's ability.
Peter searches for Emma and is drawn to the sound of a children's choir singing the theme from The Greatest America Hero . Their voices create a wonderful light show that only he and Emma are able to see. After Emma realizes that Peter can see the lights as well, Peter explains that there are many special people in the world. Emma doesn't understand or fully accept the truth, prompting Peter to sit and play the piano. Emma joins him and together, they create beautiful music and lights. Peter offers to buy Emma lunch and help her through her issues with her power. He then says that she can get out of the file room more often now but Emma is angry and says that she likes the file room. Emma storms off and Peter returns home. While unpacking his things, Peter is startled by Hiro , who appears behind him. Hiro collapses and Peter catches him.
Peter sits with Hiro and tells him that he is very sick. Hiro admits that he has a brain tumor and Peter offers to get him a quick operation. Hiro tells him not to and says that he has been brought to Peter to help him. Peter insists that he does not need Hiro's help, but that Hiro needs his. He replicates Hiro's ability and teleports away. He teleports to Noah and Claire and tells them about Hiro's condition. Claire offers to heal him with her blood but Noah tells her that it won't work. He finds some information on Jeremy Greer , a healer that he once caught for the Company. Peter then teleports Noah and himself there.
Peter and Noah find that every organic substance around Jeremy's home has died. When they break in, they find that Jeremy's parents are rotted corpses. Jeremy attacks the men and Peter is shot in the chest. Noah convinces Jeremy that he can heal people as well as kill them and Jeremy revives Peter. After replicating Jeremy's power, Peter leaves and returns to New York . He finds Emma , who tells him that Hiro has disappeared. The two of them search through his room and find his list. The newest addition to the list are the words "Save Charlie ".
Hesam and Peter go to the site of a train crash and help many injured people. One man, Patrick , is wheeled into their ambulance by Peter. When Hesam isn't looking, Peter heals the man of his paralysis, although it takes a toll on Peter. By the time they reach the hospital, Hesam notes that Peter looks very tired. He also notes that four patients aren't as injured as they thought they were. When they go inside, Peter sees that Emma is watching the mayhem with a look of shock on her face. As he wanders the ER, he notices that Emma is working on a patient by herself. He becomes distracted by Nurse Hammer , who yells that her patient is dying. Peter heals the patient but then becomes exhausted.
As Peter tries to gain some energy, he is found by Emma. Emma asks him if he is okay and he tells her that his latest power is draining all of his energy. Emma tells him that he needs to stop using the power but Peter claims that he does not want to feel ordinary. He then asks Emma where she learnt how to treat patients and Emma reveals that she went to medical school but dropped out. Soon, Peter hears Emma calling for help and finds her operating alone on a young girl named Megan . Emma tells him that she can do it and successfully revives the girl. Peter later finds Emma playing the piano and asks her what the photo she has is for. Emma explains that it is her nephew Christopher and that one day, while she was babysitting him, he drowned and she was unable to save him. She tells Peter that his death was the reason she dropped out of medical school and Peter reminds her that she saved Megan. He asks if she will be going back but Emma smiles and asks if he can still see the colours . Peter says that he cannot but offers to play with her. He puts Megan's tiara on her head and she smiles at him.
At his apartment, Peter pulls down the clippings from his board. There is a knock on the door and Peter opens it, finding "Nathan" . "Nathan" tells him that he is in trouble.
Notable Powers
Peter's power is the ability to copy the abilities of other super-humans, with no apparent ill-effect or power loss to the original owner. The range and limitations of this power have not yet been clearly defined, so most of what is known about can be best described by what has been observed.
His ability appears to be proximity based. The distance Peter needs to copy a power has not yet been demonstrated, however the abilities that he has copied have been from people who have come within the area of ten feet or less from Peter (or close enough for physical contact). From the point Peter copies a power he is able to continue using it, and there has been nothing to indicate that these powers will expire with time or frequency of use. Most of the super-humans from the "Heroes" universe are also new to their powers, where limitations have not been demonstrated, but Peter may be able to use the abilities he copies to the same extent as the original owner.
Originally Peter's powers operated largely on the subconscious level. Powers have been automatically copied, and even Peter doesn't realize that he has a particular ability until by some reflexive action the power is used (or he may know that he has a particular power by inference when someone near him is revealed to have a power). With practice Peter has been able to refine and improve his control individual abilities, however each of his copied powers also originally operated as a reflex or subconscious act (often in self-preservation).
The abilities that Peter copies may have some instability based on the powers themselves. When Peter copied the ability to generate radiation from his body, he was unable to control himself and worried that an explosion could result. At this point he was inexperienced with the use and control of his powers, and he had absorbed a number of varying abilities in a relatively short amount of time. This may have contributed to his temporary instability. As he learns to control his power this may not be an issue.
Peter has absorbed several notable powers from other unique individuals. Here is a list of some of the more notable powers that he possesses.
Empathic power mimicry - his original power, by absorbing the superhuman powers of others in a small radius and recall them at will on an empathic level.
Flight - absorbed from brother, Nathan Petrelli, Peter has the ability to fly by self-propulsion. He's even used his brother's ability to fly at supersonic speeds, which he demonstrates when he rescues his brother after having exploded.
Precognition - absorbed from Issac Mendez, a painter formerly addicted to heroin and his former girlfriend's ex, Peter has the ability to foresee the future but the only way he and Isaac can express this is to paint or draw future scenes out. Peter's eyes glow a cloudy white and sucuumbs into a trance-like state, but later loses this ability to his father.
Time/Space Manipulation - absorbed from Hiro Nakamura, a good friend and ally, Peter can bend time and space to time travel, teleport, or control the flow of time, he later loses this ability to his father.
Regenerative healing factor - absorbed from Claire Bennet, his brother's illegitimate daughter and his neice, Peter's body self regenerates and recovers from any trauma, injury or wound that comes to it. When he activates Claire's power, his blood has the ability to heal others and can be killed when the brain is pierced but can be brought back to life by being near her or receiveing a transfusion of her blood, he lost this ability to his father.
Telekinesis - absorbed from supervillain Sylar, the enemy of the series, Peter has the ability to levitate and manipulate objects with the power of his mind but not with the level of fine control as the villain, he later loses this ability to his father.
Telepathy - absorbed from police officer/detective Matt Parkman, Peter can read, project, and control thought and the mind but can only used this power to read minds and has not reached the same level as Matt's father, Maury Parkman, or, more recently, Matt himself, but lost to his father.
Invisibility - absorbed from, Claude, the Invisible Man and his mentor, Peter has the ability to render himself invisible. With practice he was able to master the basics of this power, able to render other people and things invisible along with him but only in physical contact, but lost to his father.
Radiation Manipulation - from the runaway fugitive, Ted Sprague, Peter can generate and manipulate radiation and radioactive energy, most notably as nuclear energy, electromagnetic pulses, or sheer heat and microwaves, he later loses this ability to his father.
Superhuman strength and durability, Alternate personality - absorbed from Niki Sanders and her alternate personality of Jessica Sanders, Peter is superhumanly strong and durable able to punch through rock and withstand being punched in the face by a grown man with no ill effect, able to wield and control super strength better than the original possessor. There is potential for him to manifest an alternate (perhaps dark) personality like Nikki, a glimpse of which has been shown. His father stole this ability from, but he later absorbs it back from Mohinder Suresh.
Intangibility - absorbed from D.L. Hawkins, Peter can become intangible to phase through solid objects but has not reached the level of mastery as D.L, he loses this ability to his father.
Electricity manipulation - absorbed from Elle, Peter can generate electricity and fire lightning bolts from his fingertips but has yet to gain the degree of fine control Elle has, but he later loses this ability to his father.
Sound manipulation - While Peter was trapped in a level prisoner Jesse Murphy, Peter used Jesse's ability to send Knox flying back from killing H.R.G.
Intellect- While Peter travelled four years into the future he absorbed Sylar's ability to know how things work, but also recieved a hunger wanting him to kill to find out things, he later loses this ability and the hunger to his father.
Super Speed- absorbed From Daphne Millbrook in the future, He was able to use a burst of speed to knock Claire out before she could react, he later loses this ability to his father.
Ice control- He absorbed this ability from Tracy Strauss by accidently unaware of this new ability he freezes a wall of a fugitive transport plane causing it to shatter making the plane crash.
