Okay, I must admit...there's been a lot of times when I've disliked Spidey. I've called him emo, cry-baby, girly...but I guess, like everyone else who hates Spider-Man, I've forgotten what he's supposed to be all about. When Stan Lee and the other guy created Spidey, they intended him to be different from all the other heroes at the time. How was he different? He was a teenager, just growing up, dealing with the same angst and inner anger all of today's teens have to deal with.
Now, reading this stand alone issue, really showed me once more that Spider-Man can truly be a likable character. The Way Paul Jenkins writes this is truly great because there are many moments of genuine humor and the few moments of action, show Pete as a kinda hero who's confident in his abilities. I think reading this issue is the closest you could possibly get to experiencing a day in the life of Spider-Man, and if your ever having trouble defending why you like Spider-Man so much just refer to Peter Parker: Spider-Man #37, it's all there.
