He is a father figure to the turtles and is easily able to fight them all at once. He does not carry a signature weapon however he is well known to walk around with a wooden cane and also seems to be a incredible marksman with the bow and arrow. In some versions, Hamato Yoshi and Splinter are the same person.

He is often considered the original Ninja Turtle because of the first concept art of a unnamed turtle that had nunchucks strapped to his arms.

Rat-Tail is the leader of the Rat-Tail gang in the Gotham City Badlands. When his turf is attacked by The Penguin he forms a close alliance with Catwoman and the two form a friendship.
