In the third issue of best-selling novelist Gregg Hurwitz's PENGUIN: PAIN AND PREJUDICE miniseries, the Penguin has a new girlfriend! But his new relationship is just an excuse for bigger heists and more vicious crimes, all to obtain gifts for his loved ones! And the flashier the crime, the more easily it catches Batman's eye. With The Dark Knight hot on his trail, will the Penguin back away from his life of crime – or will he continue his push to take over Gotham City's criminal underworld?

I was never crazy about the Penguin before but now I look at him differently. I'm not going to say he's my favorite villain now, but he's certainly moved up on the list. With this mini-series, we're given a more ...

    Better than a Gas-filled Umbrella 0

The story is still great as Penguin continues to prove his bonafides as a ruthless gangster. I love the twists and turns that the story takes as the death of his mother in issue 2 seemed to have derailed the main thread of the story up to that point. We get a great artistic moment where panels alternate between an example of his ruthlessness and beneficence There's also another GREAT Joker sight gag. I think there's been one in each issue - at the very least there've been 2 in the past 3 - in wh...

    A Cold Character Study 0

Hurwitz and Kudranski return with one of the finest comics on shelvesThe Good: Penguin is oftentimes a hated figure both in universe and by the legions of Batman fanboys that keep much of DC comics going. He's lacks the cultural aura of the Joker, Catwoman, and Two-Face; he lacks the inherent supervillain skillset that is a blind requirement for some creators to make a character a legitimate threat. He survives as a bit of a joke from the Adam West show and Danny Devito's take. Yet, Hurwitz here...
