Larry Macintosh is an inventive genius who on developing something he calls voracitite, a liquid that causes metal to dissolve while doing no harm to living flesh, offers it to the United States Government believing that with its use war will be made obsolete as no weapon can stand up against it.
Dismissed as a crank without even asking for a demonstration Larry does not know what to do next.
Unfortunately for him enemy agents had been spying on his meeting with the government and they believe in voracitite and its potential, when one of the spy makes him an offer Larry punches him out declaring that they will never get their hands on it.
The enemy agents next move is to frame Larry for a crime he did not commit so they can blackmail him by telling them that the only way for him to clear his name is for him to give them the formula in exchange for proof of his innocents.
In lockup awaiting arraignment Larry tells his guard that he is thirsty and asked for the bottle he has in his jacket, taking a sniff the guard pronounces it “sweet smelling, must be harmless” and give it to Larry.
The bottle of course contains his invention voracitite, which later that night he uses to dissolve the bars of his cell and escape, but not before living a polite note explaining that he will prove he is innocent as soon as he take care of some other matters.
The other matters turn out to be when he and seven companions (the first two being two sailors who having read about him in the paper think he has the right idea and without a second thought go AWOL to aid him) outfit a boat for battle, christen it the Pax, and cast off to put an end to war by their selves.
Soon dubbed the Peace Raider Larry and his crew gain a grudging respect from the navy after they take out such villains as Ivan Barbanoff, a war profiteer who plots to set all nations to fighting each other until they are so weakened he can then take over the world.
Eventually Peace Raider and the crew of the Pax confront a submarine the size of a battleship that turns out to be headquarters of the War Master, the 6 foot 7 inch head of the enemy spies who framed Larry in the first place.
Raiding the sub Larry and three of his crew are taken captive, they however are able to escape and battle is entered with the War Master. With things looking dire for the small Pax, and the single plane being flown by the Peace Raider himself against the mammoth heavily armed War Master submarine and it’s planes.
As for what happens however much remain a mystery as the series Peace Raider ended after only 4 episodes when Dell’s War Comic changed both this name to War Stories, and most of it’s content.
