I'm really not sure what to think of Outsiders these days.  I want to like the team (and comic).  It's great that Alfred is more involved but how long will that last?  He does have his butler duties as well.  With a "new" Batman, is it time for Batman to return and take over (again)?  It almost feels like the team does need some new leadership.  Or perhaps another character I can get a little more excited about.

What are your thoughts?  Are you enjoying the comic?  Do the Outsiders need Batman to be 'cool'?  Are you enjoying this current storyline?  Should Alfred get an actual costume?

I love the Outsiders and i really don't think they need Batman to be cool. A few issues back Metamorpho broke down what aspect they bring to the table in comparison to Batmans attributes. I loved it and thought it was creative. This team has history and they each have a different personalities that for me fit. I also like the hints to the  Geo-Force/Black Lighting ineveitable showdown

I always felt the Outsiders were on the lame side. And Bat's was wasted in this book.

I agree with you on basically all of what you said. I kind of feel like I'm having to drag myself through this series and whenever Deathstroke appears I become excited, then they switch scenes and I groan. When I read this I think "They live forever? 'Kay... that's cool... for them... What do they have to do with the outsiders again? Oh, they went into space, kind of decent." I also wondered why the guy at the end was there when he was supposed to be after that other person. But maybe he will connect the two books and make me care about the Outsiders. I didn't really mind Geo Force messing up though, probably because I haven't read much with him and I was also rooting for Deathstroke.

I do agree about that any issue is potentially someone's first issue. That seems to be something that they forget these days. Remember when you could pick up an issue and read a story from beginning to end, itmight be part of a larger story but there was a beginning, middle and end? Big long storylines are great but each comic in that storyline should make sense on its own.

As for Alfred I don't mind him being in charge, make him the new Oracle.....and then that frees up Barbara to be Batgirl again. Heh.

    Genius! Sheer genius!

I haven't read The Outsiders since Batman bailed on them to rejoin the League a few years after he founded the team. Yeah, that means I missed some good Alan Davis art and the whole Looker membership. I tried reading the Dick and Roy version and kept think WTH?

I'm wondering what purpose the team serves. A place for misfit heroes? Don't get me wrong, I've liked the team, I just think that it has jumped one too many sharks...

I think the Outsiders team with Nightwing, Starfire, Shift, Indigo, Arsenal, Thunder and Jade was better.

I just found it hilarious that no one thought to find out the origin of where the flaming debris was coming from.

I'll be picking this up solely for the Deathstroke appearance. He's one of my favorite villains, so almost anything he's in gets bought.

I never cared for the Outsiders as a team though. What purpose do they serve in the DCU? While Alfred being a member gives the book a unique touch, its not enough to make it a worthwhile purchase every month.

I want to drop the comic because of Deathstroke. I'm not going to because I have been a long time Outsiders fan and want the comics for refrence. Can't say I'm enjoying Tomasi's crap writing though.

i have to agree sadly. i recently bought the first three trades of the post final crisis incarnation of the outsiders and i wasnt really that impressed. all of the members acted so one-note it was well irritating.
the story wasnt bad, but it just wasnt that exciting

the outsiders are to the justice league as x-force is to the x-men.

what started out as a first strike alternative to the more well-known/accepted team evolved into a black-ops version.
