    Outsiders In A Crisis

    The Story:

The Outsiders face off against the Fearsome Five and Sabbac who now wields the power of the Seven Deadly Sins he recently gained. Donna Troy is back from the dead and on a mission as she recruits members of the Outsiders to help her on her quest. The remaining team members face off against the Society Of Super Villains.

    My Thoughts:

Just when I was beginning to enjoy this series it hits a bit of a snag. Unfortunately nothing in this volume really caught my attention or sparked my interest. The best thing series writer Judd Winick did in this volume was add Captain Marvel Jr. to the team. I like that move. I think he'll fit right in on the team and I'm eager to read more about him and see his character develop. The rebirth of Donna Troy wasn't something that got me excited. Perhaps that's contributed to the fact I know very little about her character. I just felt her appearance in the book did nothing to progress the storyline at all. The part where Arsenal impersonated Deathstroke was mildly entertaining. I just can't help but feel this series has yet to reach it's full potential and now I'm beginning to question whether Judd Winick is the right guy for this series or not.

The art was drawn by Matthew Clark and Dietrich Smith. I'm a little undecided on how exactly I feel about the artwork. It had it's moments where it was decent but I didn't like the way a lot of characters faces were drawn. The inks and coloring could have been a lot better in my opinion. This was definitely not the best artwork this series has had.

While there is a lot of action and drama which is what this team is commonly associated with, it felt like a lot of filler issues to me. Not Judd Winick's best writing if you ask me. Hopefully things will get back on track in the following issues. This volume could be skipped as nothing essentially important happened.

    Rating: 3/5
