Orpheus is the son of Dream of the Endless and the Greek muse, Calliope.
His wife, Eurydice, died on their wedding day when she was bitten by a snake. When Orpheus traveled to the underworld and asked Hades to allow her to live once more, his wish was surprisingly granted, provided Orpheus could return to where he came from without looking back at his bride, who Hades promised would be following him. Orpheus failed, and Eurydice had to return to Hades.Orpheus was later attacked by the the Baccheae, savage worshippers of Dionysus, and torn limb from limb. He would live the rest of his days as a disembodied head.
