How is this

Better than This?

#2 Posted by BR_Havoc (343 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

Wow is that from the new issue of Wonder Woman? If it is the new costume looks really dated almost 50's era.

#3 Edited by SmashBrawler (4140 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

I like it. A lot actually, especially the new helmet.

#4 Posted by Billy Batson (54588 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

It's a modernized version of the costume. It's one of the few good redesigns from the New 52. Personally I like it.

the costume is much better now, much simpler, but the glider could be much better

right now it looks like an fitness machine

That's what I was thinking too... He looks like some old school Sci-fi hero.

#8 Posted by Harlekin (677 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

I think its more of an artist issue then the costume itself.

i'm all for sleek & modern but this looks like horrible.

I actually like it. As BB said, it is one of the good redesigns from the new 52. It has that biker idea going on, which I like and I think it works pretty well here.

Good point. I suppose it just sticks out a lot more now, considering his younger redesigns being the norm until now.

#15 Posted by TheCrowbar (4286 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

DC honestly did a good job on that one.

#16 Posted by 80sBaby (1299 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

It's not even that much of a change. Now if they tried to "modernize" the costume, people would still complain it looks "too 90's" or something.

#17 Posted by KnightRise (3960 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

He looks great. The Astro-Harness should be more diesal, but he looks better than the classic version

I dig the suit, very sleek looking.

#24 Posted by AtPhantom (14454 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

Note to comic companies: Putting black pants on is not the only way to upgrade your character's look.

Not bad. FC costume was better.

#25 Posted by colonyofcells (2038 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

I think the new non slip design of the harness is much better and is now safe even for seniors like Highfather to use.

#26 Posted by Strafe Prower (11538 posts) - 5 months, 30 days ago - Show Bio

The costume design is ok, but the art is what's bad IMO

Its not bad by any stretch of the imagination. I just think it looks 50's era and maybe that is what suits the new gods the best. I just really hope we see Mister Miracle and Barda soon

I don't see a difference. It is the same costume drawn by a different artist, that is all.

#35 Posted by Billy Batson (54588 posts) - 5 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Chiang come up with another costume too if someone's interested:

I am just happy to see the New Gods again after the horrendous things Grant Morrison did to the new gods in Final Crisis. I am glad we can finally forget that hard to follow horrendous story called Final Crisis and thank the gods for frequent new gods reboots.

I don't get what the re-design is...Orion, now with stubble?

He looks the same, you just used a bad artist vs. a good one to sway people to believing your way is the right way. That's called propaganda.

#42 Posted by Dernman (11641 posts) - 5 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

I actually like it. If I had to nitpick is it seems more human then god because or the motorcycle jacket.

WHATS THE PROBLEM DORK KNIGHT!? im jk, but seriously, his costume does look good, it fits with the new era of comics im just glad he's out the red and blue under wear get up. No disrespect to Jack, long live the King.

#45 Posted by Smart_Dork_Dude (1987 posts) - 5 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

This is okay. Normally I'm not one for changing classic Kirby designs around too much, but this works oddly enough. It's still Orion that much is certain and I like the altered helmet. Yeah I like this.

I agree, Kirby designs should be immortal. But people like Etrigan look far better in the reboot.

#47 Posted by colonyofcells (2038 posts) - 5 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

I don't believe in immortal stuff and I know dc will do more reboots for the new gods long after I am dead.

DC's done a lot A LOT of stupid things this last year and a half. Okaying this costume is not one of them. I honestly don't see what's wrong with it. At least he didn't get a design like Raven's. I think it's kind of cool, not all that different from the old one. They just made it more modern.
