During the Cold War, Arkady Rossovich was forced into Russia's version of Weapon X. The end result, was Omega Red. Edit
Origin
Arkady Rossovich was a homicidal killer before he got involved with the SIA in Russia. When Banshee was an agent for Interpol he was tracking Arkady for numerous murders in the 1970's. During their “final” confrontation, Arkady killed a female inspector companion of Banshee’s, This upset Banshee who in return shot Arkady, but was unable to kill him. Banshee then turned him over to the authorities, but that’s when the SIA located and got their hands on Arkady and made some improvements to his body. This created the monster that is Omega Red.
He also wishes for revenge against Wolverine because without him, his surgery wouldn't have been possible. Even though Omega Red enjoys his new powers he still misses the ability to fit in. But being able to destroy people without touching them does help ease his pain.
Powers
- Pheromones-
Omega Red has the ability to send an odorless pheromone that weakens anybody within his immediate vicinity. The pheromone has never been given an official name, but has oftentimes been called his “Death Factor” in opposition to Wolverine and Sabretooth's “Healing factor”. The pheromone is sufficient enough to render his targets unconscious, or even kill them, if exposed to the pheromone for a long enough period of time. He must secrete this pheromone, or it will start to feed off of his own body. He also can install fear in his opponent with the Pheromone's, simply being in his presence makes you afraid.
- Tentacles-
His cybernetic implants are made of the adamantium like substance, Carbonadium. Unlike adamantium, carbonadium is flexible and is also practically indestructible. These two retractable tentacles come from his wrist and are capable of holding a ton of weight; Omega Red is often shown holding one or even two heroes in his grasp. He can also use his tentacles are often also used offensively as whips, and defensively for deflecting attacks. They also act as a conductor for his ability to drain the life force of others to supplement his own. He must do this in order to survive, and when he does it will enhance his health, healing, and other abilities.
Omega Red's most important goal is to find the Carbonadium Synthesizer. This item will prevent his death spores from ever harming him again, thereby sustaining his physical health and stabilizing his condition.
Alternate Version
Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610)
Omega Red appeared in as a villain of Spider-Man. His tentacles seems to be organic, rather than made in carbonium and it sprout above his hand, rather than below his wrist. It is unknown if he has the "Death Factor", but Wrecker noted that Omega Red might have spread toxins in a vicinity. After his fight with Spider-Man at Roxxon industries he was captured by SHIELD but escaped when the Green Goblin escaped. Omega Red works as a hitman and when Spider-Man defeated him his clients stopped going to him. He blamed the Daily Bugle because of the article that was written by J. Jonah Jameson of how he was humiliated. Omega Red went to the Daily Bugle disguised as a janitor and trashed the place up until Spider-Man arrived and defeated him.
Age of Apocalypse (Earth-295)
Omega Red is similar to his mainstream counterpart, but the difference is that he is weaker, wear a blue uniform and is more business-minded because he is in league with the black market business. He is killed by Domino.
