I'd really like to know if the script for this series was changed in any way after it was announced that Omega Flight was going from ongoing series to mini series. The fact of the matter is this doesn't read like a mini-series, and when you're done reading the final issue it feels like nothing has been resolved. In fact if any other writer wants to use any of these characters, they're going to have to either ignore the situations this series has left them in, or have to write them out of they're individual situations to be able to use them freely. 0f course some characters' status are worst then others... but you get the distinct feeling that the story wasn't suppose to end here.
The Wrecking Crew part does come to an end, but no matter how much power you give to the Wrecking Crew, they are still a little goofy and haven't been taken seriously as villains for years. If this is going to be the only Omega Flight comic book we're going to get for the foreseeable future, then it's quite disappointing that these were the only villains we get to see them go up against. When it really comes down to it, it just doesn't feel like this story needed 5 issues to tell. We actually only get to see the entire team fighting together in this issue... even though we've known the line up since issue #1 because of the covers.
The art work isn't bad, just not excellent. Kolins shows a lot of potential, but needs to refine his style a bit more as he has slight problems with certain angles. The pencils end up being a little better then the story itself, but the entire experience ends up being very mediocre. Instead of buying this mini-series (or trade) you could have someone explain the entire story to you in about 2 minutes. Very little character development is done here, but I can't help to think that Oeming was working toward something bigger when he first started to write this.
