O.D.S.T.

Origin

Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (or O.D.S.T.) are the elite infantry units of the UNSC. Also known as the 105th Special Forces, the O.D.S.T. are volunteers veterans from the various UNSC special operations groups.

Becoming a "Hell Jumper" is no easy feat. To be considered, one must have a successful run in one of the other UNSC special forces divisions. Upon agreeing to join, one must also go through the months of rigorous special training the ODST have to endure.

The O.D.S.T. are usually brash and hardened soldiers. They have been known to get into fights with soldiers of other factions as well amongst themselves. But they are still the premiere soldiers of the UNSC... next to Spartans.

The Orbital Drop Shock Troopers get their name from their standard method of deployment. They are usually shot from orbiting Halcyon or Marathon class UNSC cruisers riding in SOEIV ( Single Occupant Exoatmospheric Insertion Vehicle ) also known simply as Drop Pods.

Each O.D.S.T. squad usually specializes in certain types of warfare, but all are expected to adapt to whatever they are applied to.

The O.D.S.T. get some of the most advanced Technology in the UNSC. Form helmets that rival those of Spartans, to someof the best armor and weapons the UNSC can buy, the O.D.S.T. are outfitted to survive and work at their full potential. Besides Spartans, the only people who get outfitted better are the super secret agents of ONI

Halo 2-3

In Halo 2 and 3, the ODST are visibly better than the standard UNSC soldiers. Whenever they are deployed to help Master Chief, they tend to survive longer and kill more Covenant forces than the other computer controlled characters. In Halo 3, they are also better shots and drivers.

Halo Wars

In Halo Wars, the ODST are only used by the UNSC leader Captain Cutter, as his specialty unit. The player must uprgrade their normal foot soldiers with extra soldiers per unit, rocket launchers, and medics, before they are finally able to drop odst anywhere on the map. Once obtained, the ODST are invaluable. They allow for instantaneous support to anyplace on the battlefield for exactly the same cost as standard soldiers.

Halo 3:ODST

Halo 3:ODST is centered around the soldiers from the Halo: Helljumpers comic. In ODST, several of members of the squad specialize in certain ordinance, like Sniper rifles and Explosives. However, all of the ODST are still very skilled in most vehicles and weapons.
