Odo

The Founders

Odo is a member of an alien race known as "The Founders." The founders originated on their home planet in the Gamma Quadrant of space. They are an alien race who posess the ability to shape-shift into any object or individual that they come into physical contact with. However, each member must work on their individual shape-shifiting abilities. This alien race is served and worshipped by another group of aliens known as The Dominion.

However, most beings refer to the Founders as "changelings."

Odo

Little was initially known of Odo's true origin. However, through the course of time, Odo managed to arrive in the Alpha Quadrant. A group of space travelers found him floating in space. At the time, Odo was in a somewhat liquid physical state. Unknown at the time, changelings spent their origin and most of their lives in a gelatenous state - a state between molds. The travelers thought it best to turn the matter over to a scientist on the planet known as Bajor.

At the time, Bajor was occupied by an alien race known as the Cardassians. It was a dictatorship on that planet. Through the work of a dedicated Bajoran scientist, it was discovered that this "matter" was intelligent life. Working with the matter, the scientist began to train it. Eventually, she gave the matter a name: Odo. Odo was taught to interact with people and develop his shape-shifting ability. Thus, Odo's journey began.

The Security Constable

Orbiting the Bajoran homeworld was a Cardassian space station known as Terac' Nor. The Cardassian commander was named Ducat. By this time, Odo had developed the ability to create and maintain a particular form. Therefore, he was brought into the station to enlist as an officer.

When he arrived, it was thought that his abilities would help in the area of security. Odo was trained in the art of security aboard the station. This experience would prove very useful in times to come. Eventually, he worked his way up the ladder and became the Constable.

Deep Space Nine

Finally, the Cardassians withdrew their forces from Bajor. As the Cardassians abandoned the space station, they left it in shambles. That is when the United Federation of Planets intervened on Bajor's behalf. They arrived and resurrected the station, renaming it Deep Space Nine.

The Bajoran officers remained behind at the station. Odo was among their ranks. By this time, he was a seasoned security constable. Because the station would be undergoing a rough transition, criminal activity would be at an all-time high. Now, more than ever, Odo's expertise were needed. Through his hard work and determination, the tranformation of the station was an overwhelming success.

Through the years, Odo has remained the Security Constable and has served his cause bravely and valiantly.

Abilities

Odo has the ability to shape-shift. Being a changeling, he can imitate most objects by shifting his physical and molecular mass to fit a given shape. Also, he can revert to a slightly liquified form. This enables him to go through certain spaces that would otherwise be impossible to cross.

Over the years, Odo's abilities have always aided him in serving as the Security Constable of Deep Space Nine.
