Okay so, when Northlanders began I was EXTREMELY disappointed, and well after issue one it only seemed to go downhill from there, that was until about mid-way through it all when I actually started to enjoy it. So anyways, I was rather upset about the ending of the first story arc, thought it felt a little premature, but now that I've come to issue nine my spirits have once again risen. You see, the way this comic works is it tells a story, but when that story ends, rather than start a new series, its starts a new story arc, one completely unrelated to the one before it.
So in other words, it's like I finished an okay comic, and have now just picked up a great one in its stead. I'll admit it, this one story arc alone isn't enough to pick up the entire series, since its only two issues long, but nevertheless I have to say I am really liking it. The whole feel of it, Edwin's character, the story, the innocence, wow, its just...I don't know why I like it so much...I guess, I think what I like most about this whole thing, the Northlanders comics that is, is it shows the world as it was...I always thought movies painted the medieval times as a beautiful place...nice to see those times as the dump it really was.
Anyways, I guess if you like that historical stuff, that time period, maybe just history in general, but like to fictionalize it, like I do, I recommend this series. Once again, I don't think its the greatest series out there, but as I have come to see, its definitely an interesting read.
