Nina Mazursky

Current Events

Nina is presently a member of S.H.A.D.E. and its strikeforce, the Creature Commandos. After returning from the assault on Monster Planet, the team awaited redeployment, but while waiting they were attacked by the Humanids, who had become self aware. The team was eventually successfully able to defend the Ant Farm.

Origin

A gifted doctor, she undertook a procedure on herself which left her as a human-fish hybrid.

Creation

Nina Mazursky was created by Jeff Lemire and Ibraim Roberson. She was created for the Flashpoint version of the Creature Commandos and remained part of the team in the rebooted DC universe.

Character Evolution

Flashpoint

Nina is the daughter of the brilliant scientist Myron Mazursky. Her childhood was altered when a disease ravaged her lungs. Desperate to save her, her father used radical experiments to transform her into an amphibian. When the military learned of his work, they recruited him for Project M, in which they attempted to create super soldiers for World War II.

As a character that has very few appearances, she has not exhibited a great deal of character development, though she has learned to trust her teammates. She and Frankenstein share a bond after their pairing together on Monster Planet.

The team's first mission was the destruction of an alien menace on Monster Planet.

Powers and Abilities

Sub-Mariner

She is able to breathe only in water, but as a water breather can also withstand water pressure to a certain degree. She wears a water filled suit which allows her to breathe. She is also a gifted doctor and is quite knowledgeable in the life sciences.
