Okay, first thing is first. I have to give the obligatory " even though it says R.I.P. on the banner, it has nothing to do with the story" warning. Now that I have that out of the way. In this issue, Nightwing gets shot. He preforms a rooftop rescue of District attourney Carol, stashes her away in a hideout, and makes a nearly unconscience flight to the cave to see Alfred. He is dealing with a lot of stuff here. He even has a conversation with Harvey Dent when he goes back to see Carol.
This is a fun and easy read, where we get a lot of really good dialogue. Between Two Face and Nightwing, but more importantly, between Alfred and Nightwing. It is almost reminiscent of The Dark Knight Returns.
As I said, do not be fooled by the R.I.P. banner, but I can still recommend this book for what it is.

I read the book, but to be completely honest, I don't want to review it. I enjoyed it and I can understand, to a degree, why it's a tie-in, but it takes imagination to tie everything together, it's not laid out on the page for you. However, this did make my favorite covers list, a list that doesn't technically exist.... I'll do it one of these days. What do I like about this issue, well how about this: It's completely misleading. No, Dick doesn't die and no one really though he would, at least I hope no one is that dumb. His blood is laid out in the bat symbol, Alfred's running to save him. It's a classic case of 80s cover cheese, and I love every second of it.

There's nothing specifically tied into the Batman RIP storyline despite the fact that this is considered one of the crossover issues. I vented about it on my show this morning. Nightwing is a fine book; I'm not really excited about the artwork in this issue. If you like to see Nightwing bleed a lot, then by all means, spend your money on it because there's much blood spilled. He spends the issue trying to recover from bullet injuries while trying to keep Carol (Harvey Two-Face's ex) safe. The end leads him to a big surprise which I don't mind spoiling for you. All the villains show up. Seriously. It's Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Penguin, etc etc etc. I have a theory about what their plans are but for the meantime, DC leaves readers hanging on this cliff.
