Grayson Vs. Todd
The Story:
Criminals are being killed on the streets of New York by Nightwing but not the real Nightwing. Dick Grayson investigates and finds out the identity of the person posing as himself to be none other than Jason Todd. Dick Grayson must deal with Jason Todd's violent tendencies while attempting to stop the Pierce brothers, New York's biggest metahuman criminal kingpins.
My Thoughts:
This story arc is written by Bruce Jones which takes place one year after the Infinite Crisis. Dick Grayson has relocated to New York and just when he tries adjusting to his new life, a ghost from his past resurfaces. The return of Jason Todd was the highlight of this story. It felt like his appearance ended real quickly though. I was hoping things would turn out differently. I didn't care for the way things ended. Bruce Jones is a good writer but I didn't think he wrote Jason Todd's character as well as he could have. I did enjoy seeing the squabble between Grayson and Todd but what would have made things more interesting was if Batman had an appearance while Todd was around.
Once Jason Todd leaves, things start to get a little slow. The last two issues were pretty boring and the bland artwork accompanying them did nothing to provoke my interests further.
The art is by Joe Dodd, Paco Diaz and Robert Teranishi. I enjoyed the art up until the final two issues. The first style which I enjoyed wasn't the greatest by any means but it had its good moments. The second style was a little sketchy and I wasn't thrilled with the way the characters faces were drawn especially Nightwing.
Overall this was a decent volume that started off really well but towards the end it lost its flare. If you're a fan of Dick Grayson or Jason Todd then I would say check this out.
