Warned by Dr. Jonathan(The Purple Claw)Weir of the coming of The Black Shroud, she returns to her Everglades sanctum in order to perform a ritual seeking out The 'Shroud's evil emanations. While in the mystic trance, she encounters The Haunted Horseman, Alizarin Crimson, and the goat god Capricorn. Upon regaining consciousness, she seems compelled to look into an arcane cauldron among her magical artifacts, and sees three evil fables. (Actually full story reprints of classis pre-code horror stories.)

The first is "The Ghost Of Fanciful Hawkins", drawn by Bob Powell; then it's "The Mirror Of Isis", illustrated by Joe Kubert, and finally "The Thing From The Sea", with art by Wally Wood. Could all these be warnings from The Black Shroud? Even if they're not, they're darn good horror stories. Lead story and framing pages written by Bill Black, with art by Norman Hardy Jr. and Mark Propst.

Color cover by Mark Heike, interiors are black and white with graytones.
