This book picks up right where events left of in Fun Comics #4,as NV has her climactic battle with the undead wizard king, Tharu-Oron, in “The Veil Rips”. It is written by Steve Ringgenberg, and drawn by Mark Heike. The visuals on this tale are unique- since it takes place on three different planes of reality, three separate art reproductions are employed- fully painted pencil renderings for Dark Dhagor, standard inked line art for Earth, and half-toned finished pencils with flat printed color for the void between dimensions. A printing experiment not seen before or since. Then, a second story utilizing traditional comic art- “Deathstalk!” At home in her Everglades sanctum after her other-dimensional battles, Nightveil must stave off the attack of the hideous she-demon Gorgana!! This is the first issue and introduction of Nightveil who by all accounts was also known as the Blue Bulleteer during the 1940's but due to sorcery and the effects of an alternate universe, has not aged since that time.
This issue does not deal with her origin but instead features two stories, the first involving Nightveil versus the demon Tharu-Oron. Tharu-Oron has managed to subdue Nightveil's mystic mentor, Azagoth, and Tharu-Oron is attempting to break through his dimension known as Dark Dhagor to Earth.
The wizards of that alternate reality have commissioned Nightveil to thwart Tharu-Oron's efforts despite the absence of her mentor. A battle ensues, and there are repercussions of the outcome of the ending of the battle.
The second story involves Nightveil versus Gorgana, a demonic sorceress who has vowed to destroy Nightveil so she can also control the mystic arts and increase her powers. She creates a witch to battle Nightveil but Nightveil is able to defeat the witch; however, Nightveil's mentor Azagoth, having been rescued from the clutches of Tharu-Oron is still weak. Gorgana's efforts are halted but she is not defeated and returns to her dimension.
