    The daughter of the wealthy president of Technor, Inc., Serena Neiman lives in luxury in Forest Grove, but resents her father's "chi-chi" ways.  She takes out her agressions by practicing martial arts and by visiting her old friend Laura, a nurse who lives in a poor section of town.  Serena seeks to separate herself from her posh lifestyle. 
     
    When Laura is assaulted and left for dead, Serena decides to do something about the crime.  Moving into Laura's building, she sews herself a costume, to conceal her ties to wealth and society, and fights crime as the Nightingale. 
     
    She joins a group of street vigilantes known as the Sentry Squad.
