Nightcrawler we barely knew ye

Before reading second coming I thought that the death scene in "Blackest Night" where Hawkman and Hawkgirl died was the most emotional panel that I could ever see but I was wrong. To really feel this panel you have to realize that Kurts' life has been nothing but service and sacrafice for the greater good and the higher purpose both of which Hope is supposed to represent in the second coming. The only man who Logan can truely bare his soul gone, the only one who was the moral compass to the team gone the only one who we all trule could identify with gone. Who among us has not been the outsider at one time or another because of color, financial status or just becuase we weren't cool enough or looked different. He died in a way that was truly fitting for him and in a style that was truly nightcrawler. Second Coming is a great ride but I have to stop and take a look at the sun as it goes down on Nightcrawler one hero who was truly super

@Son_of_Magnus: well i didn't read the issue, either cause like you said marvel, has become really lame. last thing worth a damn they did was Old Man Logan, and after the garbage that was invasion i haven't picked up another marvel title since, but I still know whats going on, mainly cause i just look up summaries, and reviews of the books. I have always been a DC/Vertigo fan but it's still a shame marvel has become such garbage, even this death was poorly executed.

@Edamame: yeah i know him. he is in the Battle Forums a lot, a place i try to stay away from most of the time, because they get real serious over there. MK is a good guy though.

@Caligula: MK is a very nice person. Very personable and sociable. I agree that the Battle forums people can become quite impolite, in my opinion, but that is not for me to judge them.

The last death in Marvel that truely tugged at the heart strings (other than Steve Rogers) was when Colossus sacrificed himself for the greater good of the mutant race.

It's been a week, The next chapter that hit stands today has him dead on the first page, it's no longer a spoiler at this point.

On topic though, With Kurt dead, I sense that Indra could fill that "moral compass" void. I liked Kurt as much as the next person, but now that some time has passed I can't help but feel his death was a little cheap. Hope, who is supposed to be this trained soldier was Immobilized by fear, so Kurt had to port over to save her? Maybe I'm recalling the scene incorrectly or I'm oversimplifying, but come on noooow. These are the moments she's been training for everyday of her existence, so time comes to implement them and she doesn't know what to do? Grrr. And then for it to be a hand phased through his heart bothers me relentlessly. Had he ported in so he was facing Bastion, He would just have an arm through his chest, surely Elixir/Cecilia Reyes/X-Club could cure that.

Rogue got knocked to the side, Nightcrawler was already weak from teleporting, what major tragic thing happened to shake her up? A few chapters earlier she was being shot at by an army of robots with smiley faces, but now was her moment to freeze? That's a hard one to swallow. Regardless as to where she's fighting (past, present, future) as well as age, she's been more than trained/prepared for these situations, so for her to choke the way she did is a stretch.

just reread the issue...she was attacking Bastion but he says something like "I've seen you. I've seen what you become." and she doesn't really freeze...that's when Nightcrawler ports and Bastion sees it and thrusts his hand out into the space that Nightcrawler was going to occupy....I think Nightcrawler's plan was just to grab her and port away to get her away from Bastion...who knows her powers could have kicked in and she would have been perfectly able to take down Bastion but Nightcrawler couldn't take the risk

I think it's unreasonable to think she's invincible just because she was trained by Cable... soldiers at war loose it because of deaths!

I heard someone was going to die and I think Nightcrawller was on of the only ones never to do so, but I still did not know it happend already :(

I guess what I was trying to stress was, Hope is someone who should have Plans A-R lined up at any given time. While she may not have "frozen" she certainly didn't spring to action. It's whatever though

Wouldn't this just be a normal thing to Wolverine? Since his inception he's always lost anyone he's ever cared about.

Do healing factors work on broken hearts? The emotional variety of course.

well so far I'd say that it's affected Wolverine more than anyone else and he's been really good lately with controlling his berserker rages and even when he does flip out he can usually get himself under control pretty quickly

The difference is, Sabretooth enjoyed doing that. Bastion didn't.

That and Sabretooth smiled and enjoyed killing him. Bastion did not enjoy killing him. Sentinels have no emotion at all, making it pure hate directed against the mutants.

@Edamame: If Bastion could ever feel happy, then it would be at the prospect of killing all mutants... but that's besides the point. I just meant the method, not the emotion. Kyle & Yost gave it so much more emotion than the Wolverine movie did.
