Ever want two great things combined? Well Marvel has you covered with The Walking Dead-- I mean Deadpool.
It's Deadpool and Zombies, um yes please? In this parody series of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead.
THE GOOD
What's this story about?
You ever think to yourself, "ah man I love Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead, I wish Marvel would do something like that just with Deadpool instead and less gritty?" Well if you thought that, then well, that's what you get from this Deadpool series written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Ramon Rosanos.
Is it any good?
Well, lets put it like this. It's a Deadpool series and it's a parody of the Walking Dead. So yeah it's ok that it might make you chuckle and be like "ah I know what that means, cause I read the Walking Dead", but other than that it's just Deadpool doing his Deadpool things. And that is always enjoyable. The artwork by Ramon Rosanos is good, I wouldn't exactly call it a copycat of the current art in The Walking Dead, but I did enjoy it.
THE BAD
How much Deadpool is too much Deadpool?
At this point Deadpool has basically showed up everywhere. He's become an extremely popular and fan favorite character. I like Deadpool he's extremely funny character in the terms of a borderline psychotic. However, with Deadpool everywhere is more Deadpool really necessary? No matter what Deadpool series are doing, either original or a parody of something, it's going to do well. But with this series I feel like it's a bit forced and just for readers that want a casual Deadpool. Without all the drama and extra fluff that has been added in some of his other series. So for those that are looking for a Deadpool that is just being himself and cracking jokes and shooting zombies in the face, then this is perfect for you. However, those looking for something more should look elsewhere.
THE VERDICT
So this is going to be yet another successful Deadpool series. I mean it has Deadpool, jokes, a Walking Dead parody story, and black-and-white artwork. What more could you want? While you can feel like Deadpool is popping up everywhere now, you can (as a reader) be at ease as this is casual reading. So overall it's a 3 out of 5. Question: What series would you want Marvel to do a parody of? And with what character(s)?
