Bio

Born and raised in the area of New York City known as Hell's Kitchen around 1920, Nick Fury is a WWII veteran, having led the famous Howling Commandos, a highly trained first-strike squad. When he was injured by a landmine during the second World War, his life is extended by annual injections of the Infinity Formula. This was also the cause of his injury in the eye that was now covered by his trademark eyepatch. When he was still in the CIA, he recruited Richard Parker and Mary Parker to rescue Agent Ten (Wolverine). Nick also became the superhero liaison for the superhero family Fantastic Four. He was then recruited by Iron Man to be the next director of SHIELD. Under his command, SHIELD became the primary organization in dealings with superhuman activities and have forge an alliance with the superhero team, Avengers. At one time, Nick had to disband SHIELD because of being it is being manipulated by free-thinking Life Model Decoys. But when he manipulated the heroes during the Secret War and the consequent memory erasure, he was forced into hiding. Even more enigmatic than before, he is now distrusted by all his former allies, yet he continues to be one of the most important figures in the Marvel Universe, pulling many strings from behind the scenes and keeping in touch with only those who he trusts most--or whose obedience he feels that he can use to his advantage.

Secret Invasion

At the beginning of the Secret Invasion, Nick Fury has been AWOL from SHIELD for years now. It has been revealed that one of the Skrull's main goals is to capture Nick Fury. It seems that Nick Fury will be a very prominent figure in the upcoming invasion.

Powers and Abilities

Though Nick Fury has no real super-human powers, he is in peak physical condition as a human. He is a skilled tactician and an experienced leader. He is an expert in hand to hand (unarmed) combat, as well as a master of virtually all forms of weaponry. As one of the longest-running Directors of SHIELD, Fury has access to some of the world's most advanced weapons and technology. His position has also made him one of the most powerful men in the world in terms of his connections. He has taken the Infinity Formula, giving him enhanced longevity and slowing the aging process so that despite his old age his body is that of a much younger man.
