What Are DC's Blammoids?

DC Direct's new line of...toys?

I saw these a couple days ago (at io9)and quickly tried to forget about them.  Then Decepto-O brought them up and I figured we should discuss them.  What are Blammoids supposed to be?  They are DC Direct's upcoing "toy" line.
Kick off 2010 with a powerful and cute new look for your favorite DC Comics heroes - BATMAN, GREEN LANTERN, AQUAMAN - and more. Blammoids, a new wave of boldly designed toys from the team at DC DIRECT are unlike anything you've experienced before, but you'll definitely want to experience them again. A striking, energetic and kinetic take on the heroes you hold dear, how could you not want to collect them all? They bounce. They BOOM. They're collectible. They're Blammoids. They're fun.

I'm just not sure what to think.  Do they really bounce?  They don't look like they would (unless they're rubber of some sort rather than plastic).  They "boom"?  Really?

It looks like DC is trying to make their own brand to compete with the Mighty Mugg figures that make Marvel characters (along with Star Wars and GI Joe).  I think they're kind of hit or miss.  I can't say I really like the shape of them but maybe actually seeing one would be different.  Sinestro and Batman look interesting.  Poor Aquaman doesn't even have a face.  I could see maybe getting one or two to sit on a shelf as a novelty but I don't know who is going to want to "collect them all."  Price could also be another factor.

What do you think of these?  Is DC on the right track with creating their own line of "weird" firugres?  Are there any you'd want to get?  How much would you pay?

LMAO

Cute? Suuuure... And the fact that they explode isn't the best thing to put in the advertising...

"It looks like DC is trying to make their own brand to compete with the Mighty Mugg figures that make Marvel characters"

That is exactly what I thought when I saw these. And as a collector of the Mighty Muggs, I gotta say I hate the look of these creepy little things...

Personally I was hoping DC would swallow their pride and jump on the Mighty Mugg wagon, if only so I could get a Batman Mugg... But alas, instead the come up with this crap...

Some of them look alright... But generally, they're pretty creepy, and when you compare them with the Mighty Muggs... There's not much comparison...

Firestorm looks like he should be a lighter.  I bet people would buy that.

One way of putting it, LOL

Aqua Man has no face, Sinestro has no mouth despite there being more than enough room for one, Batman has a wedgie and everyone looks freakishly buff, including the Joker, who should not be buff at all.

TBH the Aqua Man one reminds me more of a young Mermaid Man than anything...

I think the heads might retract into the body and pop up to create the 'boom'. I would only buy these if they released my favorite characters. Until then, if I need 'weird' characters I'll stick with the ones I make myself.

They ceratinly are "boldly designed" if you know what I mean (look at their chests!!!)
And imagine the controversy when they move to the female heroes!
I don't collect Mighty Muggs, but they ceratinly look a heluva lot coller than these busty little dudes.

They look stupid and weird, but I must have them!
Decept-Oon May 15, 2009 at 1:54 p.m.
Just wanted to say I officially think these are AWFUL and did not encourage them by any means when I mentioned these to G-Man.  Just for the record.  I thought they were so awful and weird, they HAD to mentioned if anyone hadn't seen these creepy things.

Perhaps they should try the Plastic Fatkins diet. Green Lantern looks like he's begging for a brest reduction. Always wondered what Batman would look like if he ate too much cake....

they look like my cousin

They look like dispicable representations of the characters, and yet I find myself intrigued.

If they bounce, I'm having one
the Vicaon May 16, 2009 at 3:03 a.m.

They're just too generic... Blammoids? The name is just too generic, like they got it on a random word generator or something. If the design was good I could excuse the name... But they're pretty horrible looking.

Just a cheap Mighty Mugg rip-off, that's all they are.

WHAT??? WHERE DID YOU HEAR THAT???

Although those things seems weird in many ways, I just feel the urge to want to buy the Aquaman figure!! Maybe 'cause I'm just happy he was included in the first place. Anyways, I'm pretty sure he "has no face" because his eyes should be covered by his hair, and most of these toys dont even have mouthes.
