One of the most powerful scenes that we encountered in the ' Watchmen' graphic novel, and possibly one of the most graphic, is the scene where we see the first ' Nite Owl' get beaten to death by a gang of men. This scene which was considered by many to be one of the most powerful and moving, was removed from the final version of the film. With the release of the Director's cut, we finally have the opportunity to see this scene played out. The scene comes after Dan Dreiberg (the second ' Nite Owl'). As Mason fights them off, he reminisces the days where he was a renowned hero. It is sad, and also somewhat interesting that the film makers decided to remove this particular scene from the final version of the film. I am glad, however, that on July 21st, we will have the opportunity to see much of what was missing from the film that was so vital to the graphic novel. What do you guys think? Did you feel that the scene was very powerful? Do you find it strange that the scene was not in the final cut of the film? Do you think it should have been?

I'm glad that it had been put back into the film.  In fact, I'm glad that it wasn't in the film, or I'd have been crying like a baby in the cinema ;)

That was a pretty good scene. It would not have hurt them to add it into the movie, but it was not like it was a big scene that could have sky-rocketed the movie. It was nice though.

As excited as I was to see the movie (and maybe this scene), I think it's a case of be careful what you wish for. It's a great movie, but just so dark, and sad.

I actually really liked that scene, and would have liked to have seen it with the theatrical release.

Man, I was so disappointed this wasn't in the theatrical release, it sure is a very powerful scene

I really wish they would have put that in the movie. In the book, that scene was so powerful and it also showed you that even Night Owl II can get pissed off. if you werent feeling for the characters before this soon, you without a doubt would have been now, I just wish they would have kept it in

As much as it sucks that Hollis dies like this, it bummed me out when they said they cut this scene from the film.

I also believe July 13th is when they release the director's cut in the theatre in certain major cities - NYC,Dallas, & L.A. and think there were 2 more.

I liked this scene. The flashbacks of bustin' supervillans was cool.

Having the absence of music at the end just amplifies the violence. Thats a sad scene, but the film needs it i think.

Gah. That awful exposition by the gang at the beginning of this scene was cringe-worthy.

The flashback punches were a neat idea, but the over-orchestration of the soundtrack and the gratuitous violence that poisoned the whole film ruined it.

This was one of the scenes I wanted to see in the movie, the other was the current Nite Owl getting revenge on them

Whole clip made me cringe, and not in a good way.  Another example of how the director failed to capture the essence of the book.  Please forgive us Alan Moore.

I wish it was part of the movie.  To me that was one of the most important things that happen in Watchmen comic.  I glad it's going to be on the Director cut DVD verison.
