Venom Gets A New Series AND A New Look

There's a new Venom so why not a new series as well?

Yesterday I brought up the question of who will be the new Venom. In February's Amazing Spider-Man #654.1 (yes, with a .1 at the end), we will witness the birth of an all-new Venom. The symbiote will have an all-new host and an all-new mission. What will this mean for Spider-Man and the rest of the Marvel Universe?

Today Marvel has announced that this new Venom will have a new ongoing series by Rick Remender (Uncanny X-Force) and Tony Moore (Frankencastle). The series is said to have major repercussions for Spider-Man.

While we are left wondering who this new Venom will be, Marvel has offered a new clue that goes along with one of the candidates I named yesterday. If my theory is correct, it looks like this new Venom will indeed be someone that Peter Parker knows. And wait until you see the look that Venom will have.

Taking Venom in a new direction, the government now has control over the symbiote. Venom will be their own Spider-Man. He will have a new look and a new mission--eliminate threats to America as a covert agent.

It looks like the government thinks they'll actually be able to control the symbiote. What do you think the chances of that happening are?

Who will be the man behind the mask? A lot of people were betting on Peter's former roomate Vin Gonzalez but I think with the government connection, it's gotta be John Jameson. It might be far-fetched but how ironic would it be for J. Jonah Jameson's own son to become a wall-crawler?

Venom #1 will be on sale in March. Joe Quesada will provide the cover and Paulo Siqueira will do a variant cover. Place your bets now (not that I condone gambling), who will the new Venom be? What do you think of his new look?

Here's one more image put out by Marvel.
