Thor Also Says, "I Am An Avenger"

Another team member revealed.

Looks like Marvel's not letting up with their "I Am An Avenger" promos.  So far we know Bucky, Spider-Woman, Iron Man and Hawkeye are on the team.  Today they've announced another:

Yes, there you have it.  Odin's favorite son, Thor, will once again become an Avenger.  This is quite the team we're getting.  Some pretty big hitters.  That's what makes the most sense.  If you're going to put together a team of heroes to defend the helpless, you don't get a bunch of dorks on the team.  You get the biggest guns you can rally together.

What this means for SIEGE is (especially if you haven't read issue #2 yet), we know Thor will be surviving.  Although was there really any doubt that he'd make it through the series?

One thing that I do wonder, are all these characters going to be on the same team?  It seems a little weird, to me, that Marvel would cancel New, Dark and Mighty Avengers and come back with just one title (we know Avengers Initiative is coming back as Avengers Academy).  It does almost seem like there are too many heavy hitters on the same team.  Would that make it harder to write the team fighting the bad guys if their roster is an unstoppable force?  Are we going to see other branches of the Avengers like West Coast, etc?

Oh awesome. Thor is the best Avenger by far.

Woo! glad to see Thor back in business. anyone know the artist rota will be for this series?

@Buffalo_Squeeze: Avengers will be written by Bendis and art by John Romita Jr.

John Romita Jr, the master of simple drawing.  By far (to me at least) the best fight coriographer of fighting)  Sorry no spell no good

Too many heavy hitters?
Not to discredit the other characters but Thor is the ony heavy hitter on the team so far....well maybe Iron Man too.
I wouldn't classify Captain Bucky as a heavy hitter but he's not push over either.

I hope there are 2 Avengers teams as well, but with the "Avengers Trinity" on one team the other team who's left to make the other team look just as good? Though Hank Pym would be a good start, and War Machine ^_^
G-Man staff on Feb. 5, 2010 at 9:59 a.m.
@DMC: Okay, maybe not heavy hitters in terms of strength but more in the terms of kick butt heroes.  They have the skills to take on pretty much anyone.
CATMANEXEon Feb. 5, 2010 at 10:14 a.m.
@goldenkey: agreed on his fight scenes. he likes to draw it out and i like reading that.

@G-Man:
with any hope theyre going to follow the lead of the current Mighty A series and have the team take on major threats.
the current soon to be prior New A line-up wouldnt be very suited nor believable for some tasks.
Kid_Zombieon Feb. 5, 2010 at 10:17 a.m.
Ha Ha sweet! Ive called everyone so far...minus spider-women. Ok so the final people who will be on the team: black widow, wasp (hank pym). maybe one other. But i called this from the beginning just because the movie is getting closer and the cartoon will be coming out soon. so they are making them closer to the original team as possible. damn i love being right! ha ha
The_Martianon Feb. 5, 2010 at 10:17 a.m.
I really hope Spidey returns to the team.
Chaneon Feb. 5, 2010 at 11 a.m.
Next... Iron Man (hopefully)

Why is Thor wearing gloves? It looks funny.
Fatal Froston Feb. 5, 2010 at 11:11 a.m.

I hope they shake thing up and have a surprise member on the team. So far, these are all characters that you would expect to be on the Avengers team.
They Killed Cap!on Feb. 5, 2010 at 11:18 a.m.

I totally seem them splitting this up west/east coast...even maybe an international.
Nyogthaon Feb. 5, 2010 at 11:34 a.m.
If they do split it up I hope Moon Knight goes back too West Coast again. Also, if Bendis is writing I wonder if Wolverine will be thrown into the fold again?
mrduckluckon Feb. 5, 2010 at 11:35 a.m.

I hope spidey is next
Kid_Zombieon Feb. 5, 2010 at 11:36 a.m.
@They Killed Cap!: an international team would be sweet! I'm not from the U.S. so it does get a little old at times when its always in the U.S.

But I'm Canadian best i have are my old alpha flights and that one 5 issue mini series of omega flight! I need me some more flight! and i remeber in the first couple of fractions invincible iron man he goes to the Philippines (i think its was the Philippines dont remember) and they had their own set of avengers and i always thought that was cool. maybe a whole series the focuses on a different superhero from around the world. Like one arc is on a superhero in italy, another arc on canadas omega flight another arc on the heros from the Philippins ECT. oh the possiblitys! ha ha

I must admit ths is one of the best art from Romita...
it doesn't look as bad as the rest of his work!

Not suprised though... the team has a Cap, a Thor and an Iron Man now..
Added Hawkeye and Spider-Woman... what about Spidey!
