Frank Miller movie news!

With so many Sin City books to adapt, ( Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, Sin City: The Hard Goodbye, etc.) it is obvious that film makers would want to expound on the first highly successful film and develop a franchise. According to a report from Comics2Film at Mania.com, film producer Stephen L'Heureux (The Boondock Saints) confirmed that there are presently two Frank Miller projects currently in talks; the sequel to ' Sin City,' and ' Hard Boiled.'

According to the report, L'Heureux confirmed that production on the sequel to 'Sin City' will begin in the later part of 2010.

Unlike the first movie, which used the graphic novels as both screenplay and story boards, the sequel will be based on an original script by Miller. As with the original, Miller will co-direct with Robert Rodriguez. Another of Miller's books, ' Hard Boiled,' which was published by Dark Horse in the early 1992, is still in the early stages of production according to L'Heureux; but the plan is to have Miller's influence heavily involved.

"We're still developing it. We got the project in turnaround from Warner Bros and Frank. It's such a pleasure to work with someone like Frank Miller. He's so smart and passionate about story at all levels from 1940s noir pulp to modern film."

'Hard Boiled' is considered to be one of the most violent graphic novels ever, written by Miller with art by Geof Darrow. The story is set in the future and focuses on Nixon, a tax collector dealing with internal conflict and issues with his identity.
Are you looking forward to seeing the sequel to 'Sin City'? Have you read 'Hard Boiled' and do you feel the story would transcend well to film?

Yes I am.  I like Millers film work so far. Sin City was a cool ride...I am interested in knowing if any of the actors from the first will do the second.

A Hard Boiled movie...
They're serious?!
How're they gonna get away with doing it?

I can understand why they wouldn't want to go ahead with the Dame to Kill For story. They would either have to figure out a re-write so that Clive Owen could be in the whole film or go through a complicated set up explaining to the viewers that this other guy is Dwight before his surgery, which would confuse a lot of the mindless-action audience that the marketing would pander to.

One question. Will Rosario be in it again? Cause I sure hope so ^_^

Hm. I'm fine with Miller being a consultant, but as a director? NO WAY. Did any of you guys see The Spirit? Heck, that movie blows in so many levels that words are not able to describe it.--Don't get me wrong, I loved SIN CITY, but it was because Rodriguez let Miller direct a "few scenes", not the whole darn thing!

Hard-Boiled. *sigh* I've read that thing, like, a thousand times! Nothing but a masterpiece. Those were good times for Miller. (his actual work, IMO, sucks big-time)

Bottom line: Miller as a consultant, not as a director! Who's with me!?

Miller co-directed on the first film

If you listen to the commentary on the Sin City dvd, Rodriguez gives Miller quite a lot of credit for his directing. Hard Boiled I would love to see. Yes there is a big question of what they can get away with, but then again I was sure they were going to censor a lot of Sin City and they didn't.
