Should Barbara Gordon Walk Again?

21 years after Barbara Gordon was shot by the Joker, should she regain the use of her legs?

Methoson March 27, 2009 at 5:12 p.m.

yes!!

its been enough time...

there is absolutely no reason for Babs to still be inthat wheelchair... i've been through this on the forums before, there are a dozen or more ways for her to walk again, with bionics or not...

Hell, Batman himself has access to Kryptonian technology that could 'reset' her back to her prime in half a second or less... then we have people with advanced healing energies / factors that could give her a transplant to repair her nerve endings... how about Cyborg? he didn't have any legswhen they originally attached the bionics to him... if he has them, why not Babs? it's not as if Bats couldn't afford it...

it's more than time for her to be up and walking again... get her back into the Batgirl outfit where she belongs!

Either / or just don't make her Batgirl again keep her as Oracle!!!

I just find it interesting that she was shot 21 years after her introduction and now it's been 21 years since she was shot.  Hmmmm....

21 is a lucky number

I think she should be able to at least walk again. I do not care so much if she jumps back into the suit though. I actually like her as Oracle and think she should stay in that role. But I really do think she has been in the chair long enough.

What would happen to Cassandra if she became Batgirl again?

Hmmm..... Good point. Do they intend to break and mend her spine every 21 years? Now that would be interesting.

Baman #666, she's the commissioner, and still in a wheelchair. (future)

yeah, that is pretty ominous... and as you said, Zatanna could fix it, or there are a half dozen other ways for her legs to be fixed...

i do think that this "Cure" storyline will result in her walking again, especially with the sheer amount of the Anti-Life Equation that she now knows about on earth...

yeah it'd be great to see her fight crime so that way she won't have to be a useless DC version of prof X i mean he is useful but he can be more useful if could still walk thats what i mean

So?

no future storylines ever published by DC are canon... they all change with different writers...

Exactly.  The whole page about the phantom pain is just too much for a coincidence.  And, as I mentioned in the video, she wouldn't or shouldn't go back to being Batgirl and there already is a Batwoman.  She can stay Oracle.  Oooooor, why not become BatMAN?  If Maya Lopez could wear a padded suit and dress as Ronin...

Actually, I'm kidding about that.
Erikon March 27, 2009 at 5:23 p.m.
I also think that if she could walk again, she would not be a super hero again. She admitted to Cassandra once that she was really stupid when she was younger. She lacked the ability she should have had to be safe.

But she's lived and learned... plus what happened at the end of that oracle issue would make her want to suit up again, IMO

Oh I see. Well I missed it so I need to pick it up next week.

yeah... the phantom pain bit did make me really think...

this issue was one of the best i've read in a while, and i do really hope that it ends in Babs walking again...

we know who will be replacing Batman after all, so if Babs can be walking again, maybe she could be the sidekick that she , and HE, always wanted her to be... and make a lot of fans happy at the same time lol

i left that deliberately vague, for those of you who don't want it spoiled lol

I think her being HIS sidekick would make me sick. They're practically equals, it'd seem like a demotion.

Dig Deeper into Barbara Gordon

Barbara Gordon was the first modern age Batgirl, until she was brutally shot by the Joker, rendering her paralyzed from the waist down. She reinvented herself as Oracle, providing intelligence to the DCU heroes and leading the Birds of Prey. She has recently become Batgirl again to protect Gotham City.
