Secret Origins: A DC Comics Documentary

Narrated by Ryan Reynolds!

In an official DC press release, they announced that Warner Home Video will be releasing a DVD on November 9th about the talent behind DC's characters. The book is being narrated by none other than Hal Jordan himself, Ryan Reynolds, and the documentary will cover many of the major creations and creators in the DC Universe and how these characters got their starts.

The film is written and directed by Mac Carter and features Jeffrey Blitz of Spellbound and The Office as executive producer. The film will feature many familiar faces in the world of DC comics: "Neal Adams, Karen Berger, Mike Carlin, Dan DiDio, Neil Gaiman, Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, Paul Levitz, Dwayne McDuffie, Grant Morrison, Dennis O’Neil, Paul Pope, Louise Simonson, Mark Waid, Len Wein, and Marv Wolfman."

In addition, there is currently a trailer available, so get yourself pumped up for November 9th!

I'm a bit of a documentary nut, so I'll for sure pick this up, and more than that, I love films and books on the start of the comic book industry. It's great to know where your favorite characters came from and why they were created, and DC is the perfect company to do this since they've been around a bit longer than Marvel comics. I'm hoping to see a bit more than just Superman and Batman though. I'd love to know a little bit more about the WWII era and the introduction of the Justice Society of America. Will you guys pick this up? What d o you hope to see in this film?

I love comic book documentaries...no matter how much you think you know they always have some little tidbit in there that's completely new

It's a very interesting idea. The trailer though had a bit too much Batman and Superman. I hope we will see more from the rest of the DC Universe.

If you like docs, did you see the one from the UK that Jonathan Ross did a few years back "In Search of Steve Ditko"?

I thought that was a really interesting doc and you could see how much Jonny Ross loves comics. I guess thats why he ended up writing Turf.

Big documentary nut myself... got the Origin of Superman in the Media Documentary myself.

Will be checking this out!

I wonder what Jim Lee would say, considering his origin was more Marvel first than DC.  But he'll likely talk about his time with Batman & Superman.
ArtisticNeedhamon Aug. 12, 2010 at 11:24 a.m.
I want that!
I've got the Amazing Story of Supermanstan Lee's Mutants, Monsters & MarvelsWil Eisner: Professional Cartoonist, History Channel's Comic Book Superheroes Unmasked, Modern Masters: George Perez, the Daredevil movie because it has a documentery featuring John Romita Sr and Jr, Gene Colan, and Frank Miller, among others, Superman/Batman: public enemies which includes a documentary about the relationship of Batman and Superman.

And i want the Psychology of Batman, the weapons of Batman, and Marvel's Guide to New York, (anyone know where I can find these two?)

This is great, can't wait for it.  Looks like old interviews with the creators themselves!  so great.

Looks cool I am going to have to watch that since I do love a good documentary. It also looks like the WB is trying pimp out there films at the same time. But still it looks a like a fun time. I wish Marvel would do one like that.
