Screenwriters Slotted for Flash Movie and Green Lantern 2

Yes, they're working on it already.

You can practically see a "COMING SUMMER 2013" tagline on this.

I get the feeling that DC Entertainment’s movie production model’s going to resemble Marvel’s more and more as the years roll on. Case in point: DCE’s commissioned GREEN LANTERN movie screenwriters Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim to work out treatments for a GL sequel as well as a FLASH feature (according to the Hollywood Reporter.)   The trio would then write the screenplay for the title DCE selected based on those treatments. Just as the GREEN LANTERN movie's drawing from Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns’ run on GL, so too will this FLASH movie be drawing from his current take on the Scarlet Speedster - -  I.E. it’ll be about Barry Allen, not Wally West or Bart Allen.

I can’t help but point out that Ryan Reynolds was in the running (pun intended) for the lead role in FLASH a couple years ago before he got cast as Hal Jordan. That’d be wild if he did still end up playing the Flash. Imagine that - - one actor playing Deadpool and Hannibal King for Marvel, and then almost half of the Justice League.

Call it a hunch, but I’m pretty sure that the storyline this trio works out for the GL sequel is going to draw on some facet of the War of Light, most likely the Sinestro Corps War (as I’ve speculated before.) Some fans might say that’s too recent a storyline to integrate into a movie, but you’ve got to realize that DC’s rebranding their second-tier character and the movies and recent comics are part of that same push. There might be 50-odd years of GL storylines, but it’s the recent retcons that have gotten all the attention for the character. So I doubt you’re going to see Dr. Polaris, the Manhunters, Major Force, the Sportsmaster or any of the other one-off members of the rogue’s gallery showing up, since this is angling to be a grand space opera trilogy. Keep an eye on the current FLASH run for an idea of how the movie will shape up, too.
