You had better make the most out of your Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen experience next Wednesday, June 24th, because it could be your last. According to Yahoo news, director Michael Bay has decided he will not be returning to make another Transformers film. Apparently, the critics have been too hard on bay and he just can't seem to take the heat!
"It's easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France. But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers. They (the critics) review me before they've even seen the movie...After the three and a half years I've spent making these movies, I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world. I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions."

I have to admit, I am sorry to see the director go. The first Transformers film had some of the coolest cinematics I have ever seen in a film. However; in Hollywood money talks so who knows, he could very well change his mind. What do you guys think? Would you have liked to have seen a trilogy created from the Transformers franchise? Looks like Megan Fox is going to have to find a new schtick.

Wait, couldn't there be more movies without Michael Bay's involvement? Or does he hold some rights to the property....?

@Sparda: I think there could be more. He just said he didn't want to be involved in a third film.

@Red L.A.M.P.: Uhh yeah I can't believe he said " WITHOUT EXPLOSIONS" this is coming from the man who made explosions in SPACE!, Im kinda suprized hes so bent out of shape about the critics, I mean Why stop making explosions now, I think transformers was his best movie to date, and I'm sure the next one will be even better. Don't stop the gravvy train Bay!

Sounds like he's just chicking out, if he cared about the movies he wouldn't let anyone talk him out of it. But on the other hand this could open new doors for future Transformers movies

Well, if there are going to be any future movies, I hope the director will make them better than Bay's. I look forward to RoTF still.

i understand him saying that the critics are to hard some times but seriously? they can say that they would rather have a pineapple shoved up their a$$' by a man with tits on his head than see another one of his transformers films but as long as it is banking lots of money who cares what the critics say. I usually like what the critics say is bad or mediocer anyways.

i thought that the only people b!tc#ing were all the whiney little fanboys who want there Transformer movie to be the deepest most profound movie ever made

Seriously though I loved the first movie, how could you ask for anything more from a movie where the base material is giant robots fighting each other and I'm sure that I'm going to love the second movie

Sucks that Bay let the critics get to him

Micheal Bay without explosions is like Porn without sex. It won't work! Besides throw enough money at him and he will change his tune.

I'm not a big Bay-phile or Transformers-phile but it seemed like a good fit. I kinda go by what I like and what I like to see in the theatre more than what a movie review or a critic says. Althought there is is this guy Joe who apparently loves crappy movies...and he seems to have this whole word of mouth thing down to a system...

@danhimself:
Bay kinda screwed up the franchise--as a fanboy, I have the right to complain.  I mean first off--he destroyed the All-spark, letting his crap about independence from what created him destroy years of good work.  Furthermore, he spent much of the movie with dumb jokes--i mean seriously, when the mom asks Sam if he was masturbating i was pretty annoyed.  He should give better effort.  He also was always condescending and disregarded the fans--like laughing away the idea of Dinobots or saying he could never have Bumblebee be a VW beetle.  Fanboys are the people who got there to be the movie in the first place.  I suggest there be a third film, maybe a reboot, directed by Louis Letterier (he directed Incredible Hulk and is remaking Clash of the Titans).
That said, I'm sorry Bay had an unpleasant excperience working with Transformers.  Everyone should enjoy working with something that cool.  Maybe if he was happier, or people were nicer, he might have done a better job.  The visual effects were pretty darn cool.

PS  Transformers ARE NOT robots--they are aliens.

Nobody expects Transformers to be deep. Star Trek wasn't deep but gathered great reviews because it was an action movie done right, I don't feel the first Transformers was.
Honestly, I think Michael Bay has the ability to be a great director, but then he goes ADD and decides to put in a bunch of explosions. The weak story and uninteresting/badly acted human characters didn't help either.
That's just my opinion anyways. Maybe the second one will be better.

Harshing him before it's even done...shame on 'em!
