Ryan Reynolds Talks About The Origin In Green Lantern Film

How much of the upcoming film will be about Green Lantern's origin?

In an interview with Mtv, Ryan Reynolds went a little more in depth about the story of the upcoming DC Entertainment film, Green Lantern. He discussed what the film would contain, which is obviously an origin story:

It is [an origin story] to a certain degree, but it's not a labored origin story, where the movie [truly] begins in the third act," he explained. "The movie starts when it starts. We find out Hal is the guy fairly early on, and the adventure begins.

Ryan went on to make another point about the Green Lantern film, comparing it to the recent Iron Man film:

That to me is the tough thing to get right," he explained. "And that's something that they did get right [in 'Iron Man']. You see why this guy's in the suit, and that's what's interesting to me. Not that he is in the suit, but why.

With Green Lantern: Secret Origin and the First Flight DVD movie, Green Lantern fans around the world have had the origin of Hal Jordan pounded into their heads pretty well. So, most of us are hoping it's not another flat-out retelling of the story.
He makes a great point. Anyone can make a super-hero film, but it takes a great cast, writer, and director to come together to take that super-hero film to the next level, to make it not only exciting but also compelling. Iron Man hit that on the head, and hopefully, Green Lantern will too. One of the things I personally hope we see more of is Green Lantern training camp on OA.

Green Lantern is scheduled to start shooting next summer.

I can't wait for this film. Ryan does seem to have what it takes to don the power ring. However, I do hope that you do see Hal being given the ring by Abin Sur.

I want this to be good and hopefully it will. As for Hal's origin that can be used in the film unlike Superman and Batman who the mainstream public knows Hal himself isn't that familiar so if they have to do it then maybe it's for the best I do like that he said the doesn't really start in the third act.

Sounds a lot like Emerald Dawn where Hal is kind of thrust into the situation and finding out more as he goes on.

I hope that this movie doesn't take the route that first flight took, and that it uses Secret Origin for inspiration. BTW, who's going to write it and will Geoff Johns have any part in it?

I'm a fan of the X-Men films, but they did lack in origins a little (apart from Wolverine, which annoyed me as it only focused on him) if they start a franchise, they should start it from the beginning. Like the Fantastic Four movies and Iron Man.

Is that photo 4 real? If that thing is true, then something is wrong with the mind of DC Comic to let their character treated that way (maybe it's the deadpool character that drives Ryan to look that way ^_^
