Perry White (Michael McKean) Returns To Smallville

It's about time if you ask me.

Over the years, Smallville has been hit or miss with the way they've handled certain elements from the comic.  I've long since given up hope that the show's producers will stick to the true nature of the characters.  We just have to accept and enjoy the show for what is.  I do have to mention that one of the minor things that has bothered me is the way Perry White was handled.  It's hard to believe that Perry White has only appeared once, back in 2003.

When Perry appeared, he wasn't the great newspaper man we all know.  He was a former Daily Planet reporter who lost his job (in part due to Lionel Luthor).  He was then working for a tabloid type show while trying to regain his reputation.  In the current seasons, we've been seeing the Daily Planet being run by other characters.  Perhaps now is the time for Perry to come in and gain control.

Yesterday I mentioned that Entertainment Weekly got word that Annette O'Toole would be returning to the show as Martha Kent.  Right on the heels of that, they've discovered that Michael McKean is also returning to his role of Perry White.  It looks like he'll be returning at the end of the season.  The show's executive producer Brian Peterson commented on Perry's return as it bringing him "closer to his destiny."  We'll also get to see the first meeting between Perry and Lois.

I'm happy that Perry will be returning.  It just seems that he should have been at the Daily Planet longer that Lois and Clark.  Yeah he was supposed to have been a reporter there before but I just always saw him as running the paper for years before the two even showed up.  That's just one of those things we have to accept in order to enjoy the show.  What do you think about Perry's return?  Does it matter to you?  With these two actors returning, do you think that Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor will be far behind?

Yea!  Perry White returns!  I wonder if there will be any mention to how he saw Clark use his powers and I wonder if he is still a little suspicious?

Lex is dead, Green Arrow blew him up with one of Toyman's bombs.

its always been kinda hinted that Perry knows plenty about Clark and Superman's connection, and he just plays ignorant becuase he doesnt want to be the man who ruins that good thing.
I dont give a damnwhat happens with Perry. they ruined him for me his first time around. I actually like Comics Perry, but tV show Perry was mixed with Spiderman's JJ and i hated it.

@jimmykudo09: Didn't his suspicions get nullified a bit.  I think there was like a sunspot or something that conveniently made Clark's powers stop working.  But then, if Perry is the awesome journalist he's supposed, he should still be suspicious.

I didn't get intot he show till Green Arrow started to pop up. And i really like how it has played out. I have been reading Superman Comics from about 1982 or so. Sure it isn't the same but i have never said gee i wish it was different.  I hated Lois and Clark when that was on. And i didn't like the first few seasons of Smallville either. So far it works very well in the TV show.

What's funny is that Michael and Annette are married in real life too.

I was hoping that Perry would've made a return to Smallville, and hope maybe he would start running the Daily Planet. Always great to see Michael Mckean make a cameo in anything.

I hope they bring back Lex the show is not the same without him but I still watch it.

Lex isn't dead @ the guy who said that ^....

I bet he'll be back at some point.

As for Martha and Perry coming back, that's great and can't hurt anything :)

Right now the shows weakest link is that over time all the adults have gone. It's great that both Martha and Perry will be back. Maybe they can keep them both around for awhile.

Hopefully they've learned a little bit of Lex goes a long way and will use him more sparingly...

...It's about time he started getting closer to his destiny!

yes there was an eclipse that occured that halted Clark's powers and maybe Perry's suspisions were nullified but i was thinking the same thing you were that because Perry is the awesome journalist he's supposed, he should still be suspicious.
