David Goyer is a busy guy.  He told Superhero Hype that the Magneto movie showing his origin and meeting with Charles Xavier is being put on hold for the moment.  It appears the script has been approved but the studio may want to wait and see how Wolverine's movie does.

I don't know if this makes total sense.  Maybe it's just me but I don't think you can compare the two movies.  Wolverine's movie will definitely do better, especially since Deadpool, Gambit and Sabretooth are also in it.  Oh and let's not forget Blob and Beak.  Their fans must be overjoyed.

I like Magneto but I'm not dying to see an origin movie with him.  It'll be good but I don't think it'd be as successful as Wolverine's.

i'm actually more intreigued by the Magneto movie than the Wolverine one.,..

as long as both are better than X3, how could they not be, i'll probably end up seeing both...

I just feel that we already saw some of his origin in the movies (was it the first one?).  I also feel like I've read so many flashback stories.  Or maybe I just read the same issue a few times.  I get that he's a complex character but they'll have to do something special to win me over.  The fact that Charles will be in it doesn't do much either.  He's been nothing but annoying lately.  Don't get me wrong, of course I'm going to see it.  I'm just not filled with anticipation.

I think a Magneto movie could be a superior 'film' compared to any of the current crop of new Marvel movies.  It could be more historically informed and gritty with the Nazi and concentration camp angles that I assumed they would use.  I'd go as far as to say they should get an Indy director to do this one, and make it more of a cerebral cloak and dagger style story.

Magneto has the potential to be a better film, but nothing I have heard out of the production so far (including script synopsis)  promises this. Goyer is going for the cheap special effects thrill rather than looking at Magneto's story for it's dramatic potential. He has compared Magneto to Anakin Skywalker in interviews. And the last script synopsis that came out of the studio dramatically altered both history and comic book continuity by having Xavier part of the troops that liberated Auschwtiz.

The Russians liberated Auschwtiz. The Americans and British did not get into Poland. That's a "U-571" (after which the screenwriter was forced to give a public apology to Britian for stealing their thunder) level screw up with history. Some history you can fudge for film, big things like that you cannot. That like making a movie in which Chinese troops landed at Normandy. Just ain't gonna fly.

But we are talking Goyer, the guy who gave us Blade Trinity and Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD after all.

I agree with Red L.A.M.P., this film would be better served with an indy director with a low key approach focusing on the personal drama.

Magneto in the X-Men movies was way too powered down and was weak.
