In stores today is Cowboy Ninja Viking, a new series by writer A.J. Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo.  What started out as a highly anticipated mini-series has now been extended to an ongoing series due to pre-release buzz.

"Even before its release, COWBOY NINJA VIKING has seen a reception much like CHEW's explosive launch, making it evident writer AJ Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo shouldn't be contained to a mere four issues," Image Comics Vice President Jim Valentino said. "In a time where it's very hard to launch an all-new title, the pre-release buzz for this book has been massive. We're extremely excited to keep it going for a long time coming. Considering we've had to already double our print run to meet demand, we think the fans will highly enjoy the now ongoing series."

What is Cowboy Ninja Viking about?  He is the birth child of Doctor Sebastian Ghislain, a psychotherapist who recruits Multiple Personality Disorder patients to create a unit of counter-intelligence agents called the Triplets.  Things don't always go according to plan.  Members of the Triplets become out of control assassins.  The deadliest Triplet, Cowboy Ninja Viking, is called in to take them down.

In order for the series to stay on schedule, it will ship monthly during the arc and have a two month gap in between each storyline.  It is a 24-page full color Golden Age-format book with a $3.50 cover price.  Again, it's in stores today, October 21, 2009.  Don't miss out on it.

This is somewhat of a ridiculous concept (awesome as well), but being a huge fan of westerns, samurai's (he is carrying a katana),  and vikings I will definitely be getting this. I think it will be a very fun series, and I really like the art in that panel.

@Vortex13: It is ridiculous and that's what could just make it work.  I'm reminded of the crazy concept for Image's CHEW that has taken off like crazy.  People need to realize that Image puts out some good books as well.  I'm hoping my comic store has this in today.

@G-Man: Chew is great, and has at times a somewhat morbid sense of humor which I always enjoy.

I read the preview of this book and it looks absolutely fantastic, funny dark humor, great art, excellent dialogue, and a bizaar vibe as you watch all of the personalities switch in and out of who's in control, this sucker is going to be a huge hit.

I'm looking forward to this... I like Riley Rossmo's art, and this seems to have a wicked sense of humour.  I just hope I wont be let down :)

SCORE!  My comic shop had one copy left!  I thought I was going to have to call up Image and beg for a copy.

What does "Golden-Age format" mean? Does that refer to paper?

@Anderson: Agent of SMITH: I'm gonna do a review and post it either today or tomorrow and show the difference.
