MTV recently spoke to Jon Favreau about Iron Man 2 and Avengers.  It's confirmed that Ed Norton won't be making a Hulk cameo in the next Iron Man movie.  The question was asked whether or not we can expect another "Nick Fury" type cameo in the next film.  Favreau explains that trying to tie in all the characters for The Avengers is a tricky thing.  Once plans are made and scenes are shot, it's difficult trying to keep that information from being leaked.  The way they plan to try to do things is at the last minute.

Will Favreau direct The Avengers?  He says it has to be someone else.  He will not be available to direct but will serve as executive producer.  Favreau also discusses how the Avengers movie will be different than the 'tech-based' Iron Man movie.  With Avengers, we'll see some supernatural elements incorporated.

Check out MTV's exclusive video with Jon Favreau.

As much as I'd like to see Favreau direct an Avengers movie, he brings up a good point.  He may have nailed Iron Man but dealing with a character like Thor and trying to merge their worlds together could be a tricky thing.  I do trust that Kevin Feige will find the right person to handle this massive project.

It kinda depressing but true just because he made Iron Man great doesn't nessacarily mean he would rule at Thor or even Captain America. It's probably for the best.

I have mixed fellings, and I don't know how to react. Part of me agrees with EGN and part of me is going no.

That's an issue I'm worried about with an Avengers movie. It's one thing to make a super hero movie work with a single hero, how do you handle several? These kinds of issues work well with animation. How do you make a force that poses a credible threat against that level of power in a live action movie, and do it in such a way that too much time isn't wasted on back story?

I just really hope the Hawkeye rumors about Iron Man 2 are true. The worlds mightiest marksman deserves some screen time!

This could be really good or really bad, depends if they learn the lessons of past movie mistakes

If he is the executive producer then it's going to have that general Iron Man feel to it.  Shooting with the same camers's and film, lighting, how fast of a pace the story will be told.  Look at a lot of Speilberg executive produduced movies, a lot of them feel like Spielberg directed movies.  That ranges from Goonies to Tranformers and so on.

As long as he's still involved with Avengers that's all I care about.

Really thought it through, having him do Iron Man, he gave that sleek look to the movie, I see alot of modern stuff to what he does. Having Branagh do Thor will give it that old world, high intelligence, medieval feel to it. Get Clint Eastwood or Tom Hanks to direct Captain America and you're good!

According to IMDB.com, Thor is the guest in Iron Man 2. Then we get Thor the movie. No Hawkeye or Hulk or Captain America.

Favreau admits he may not be the man for an Avengers movie due to other elements with the other characters but I'm actually disappointed he won't be the director, I think he isn't giving himself enough credit but sometimes you have to know your limits.   Perhaps his role as Exec. Producer may have some input.

Favreau also brings up how tricky it is to keep certain secret movie elements secret, and fans--all of us included--need to try and not push for every detail to be revealed.  I like surprises, so I hope we get plenty of them in the following Marvel movies.

Its fun to speculate who may show up but simoultaneously I don't want to be spoiled with too many spoilers and reveals!!

Joe Johnston who directed Hidalgo and soon to be released Wolf-Man and was also the art director of some of the Indy movies. Is directing Captain America.

Jon Favreau did a GREAT Iron Man film. From the looks of it, the 2nd installation looks like it will be amazing as well. Louis Letterier did a beautiful job with The Incredible Hulk. I can watch that movie over and over and continue to be amazed. We keep hearing about how Kenneth Brannagh has a great vision on how to bring Thor to life. So, really, if Jon Favreau isn't directing Avengers, we know he's not the only one who can do it justice. The good news is that he will be a part of the production. So his great vision will play a part in the film.

All in all, I don't care who is directing the big team movie. As long as they do a great job with it.

I believe that if Thor and Captain America both come out beautifully (and I believe they will), we shouldn't worry about the Avengers film because all the magic these guys created in the individual films will simply carry over. So, it doesn't matter if it's Favreau or Letterier or Brannagh or someone else. I think it's in great hands either way.

I personally believe that Marvel Studios knows what they're doing here.

At least he helps produce it rather than skipping it entirely.

I think Bryan Singer could make a cool Avengers film. His films are usually action-packed and suspending (well his superhero films are).

Its shitty, but he has a good point, if he thinks he cant do it, he cant. My suggestion for a director? JJ ABRAMS. Thats my pick for Avengers director, hes made a science fiction seem beleavible with star trek, and has alot of exprence with large casts. JJ Abrams with Faverou exe producing? think it would be fantastic.

Finding a director for Superhero movies is tough. You want it to have action, but also a decent plot. You want it to be somewhat faithful to the book and have a level of intelligence, but not be boring.
I was surprised at how good Iron Man was (aside from the cheesy battle at the end)
Recently X3 director Brett Ratner defended his work by saying he only used things that happened in the comics, which is pretty much crap. For a guy that allegedly read "every" X-men book he doesn't seem to have the slightest idea as to who the characters are. He did bring a few cool stunts to the table but sucked balls with the plot.
Bryan Singer did X-men and X2 as more of a Sci-Fi film than a superhero movie and it turned out being pretty good. He had a lot of respect with the characters.
Sam Raimi directed cheesy ass horror- comedy movies before Spider-man. Apparently the studio hired him because during the meetings he didn't mention special effects, just talked about the emotions of the characters. Spidey 1 and 2 were pretty good, as cheesy as they were.
The Avengers has a lot of different elements to it. There hasn't been a live action movie quite like it, so its hard to know who would be a good fit. I'd put Guillermo Del Toro's name in the hat, or Robert Rodriguez.
