John Barrowman, the Torchwood actor absolutely loves Captain America. He loves him so much, in fact, that he wants to play him in the upcoming Avengers movie! The folks at Comics Alliance were able to make it to the 'Torchwood: Children of Earth' panel at the San Diego Comic Convention this past weekend, and they witnessed the actor confess his affinity for Marvel's former "fallen son."
"You know what I want to play? Captain America," Barrowman proclaimed to the wildly receptive crowd, before adding that it "so won't happen."
While a lot of popular actors have been seen playing the major character roles in these Marvel films (Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, for example,) the actor set to play 'Thor,' Chris Hemsworth, does not however have an extensive acting career. Could this somehow indicate that Barrowman may have a chance to wield the red, white and blue shield? While he has spent a lot of time in Great Britain (and the film's producers cited previously that they definitely wanted an American actor,) Barrowman spent some of his career and his studies in the United States, which is good news for him! I think he could pull it off, what do you guys think?
