International Captain America: The First Avenger Poster is on Fire

Does the new poster intensify your desire to see this movie?

We are less than one month away from the premiere of Captain America: The First Avenger. Yesterday we saw a...chilling TV spot with a possible major spoiler and today we get a look at the new international poster (courtesy of Marvel).

What's nice about this is we see it's not just about Captain America. The Howling Commandos are featured right behind Cap and from the various trailers, we know they will have their share of screen time as well. It's also a nice change of pace from the current trend of single character posters that every movie is doing these days.

Since this is the international poster, you'll notice that it still says Captain America. The word was in some countries the movie will just be released as The First Avenger, with no mention of Cap.

It is a shame, but expected, that Chris Evans is shown without his mask. It does look a little silly and whether it's on his part, his agent or the film's producers, someone wants to be sure to capitalize on Evans' face rather than a masked superhero.

How does this poster compare to the ones we've had so far?

Not from the studio that brought you the Incredible Hulk? No love for that film?

He looks weird with the mask.

What?  Captain America won't be mentioned on international movie posters?  Good grief.   Oh no, it isn't "PC".

I agree, seeing Evans without the mask is a bit odd but I think you pointed this out before, G-Man, a lot of actors don't like it when their faces aren't shown.  At least Dum Dum Dugan  is on the poster.

DAYUM that looks awesome.

I think just Russia and Korea have The First Avenger as it's title

Its only Russia and Korea there are doing that, I wish people would stop going on about it

JJ Field looks like a different person. I'm disappointed his union jack isn't more pronounced on the costume. That could have dispelled a lot of the fears about jingoism but as it is they have subdued the national hero of another nation in favour of Cap. Its just unnecessary and a little sad.

Technically that was a Universal film in concert with Marvel so... it's arguable....  Also, that film was bad, so no.  No love.

I'm not fussed.  Evans is the star of the movie, and unlike characters like Batman or Spider-Man, Captain America doesn't have a dual identity.  Besides, his symbol is the shield, not the mask.

he needs to put the mask on, i dont like him with it off. his face/hair just doesnt portray cap very well, in my opinion, and im so used to him being from FF that its like human torch wearing cap's gear.

I like this poster. posters with just the title character are boring

I don't think thats a major spoiler.  For people who aren't familiar with the character, they have no clue whats going on, for us readers it is sort of.  But I think that maybe we expect it to be a major spoiler or a secret ending and it probably isn't.  I bet the movie even starts with that possible spoiler:
I think they are trying to give Evans more face time.  Thats why most superheroes don't wear masks most of the film, or the mask is altered to see more of the actors face (like Juggernaut).  Thats why Spider-Man kept loosing his mask, and why other movies have the character out of the mask more.  It wouldn't be a poster I would buy but its OK for what its meant to do.  I actually like it.  Just not enough to buy it.

I like this poster. Very blockbuster-ish, I think.

This poster is awesome, but I like the one with just Cap better.
