Whenever comic books are featured as part of a museum exhibit, it puts a smile on my face.  The Los Angeles County Museum Of Art ( LACMA) has an exhibit this weekend showing how its collection of ancient Indian paintings connect to modern day Indian comics.  
 
"Heroes And Villains: The Battle For Good In India's Comics" will examine the legacy of India's heroes and culture as seen in the comic book genre.  The display will include hand-drawn illustrations as well as computer designed animation.  A selection of publisher Liquid Comics' series Ramayan and Devi will be part of the exhibit.  Liquid Comics was formerly known as Virgin Comics before they were bought out.  The comics on display may not have close visual ties to the ancient art, there is a common theme based on storylines and characters involved.  The exhibition will also include recent American adaptions including the Indian version of Spider-Man (Pavitr Prabhakar).
