Bad news, Hal Jordan fans!
It seems that according to a recent report made by The Hollywood Reporter, production on the upcoming 'Green Lantern' movie has been delayed due to the poor economy and a weak dollar!
The falling U.S. dollar has forced Warner Bros. Pictures to reassess the viability of shooting a number of projects in several countries, after confirming Friday that its pulling production of Green Lantern out of Australia.
The studio said that "the current global economic situation, including fluctuations in currency valuation and overall costs," forced the decision, in a statement issued through agency Screen NSW.
However, just because production on the upcoming film has been moved out of Australia; does not mean that we will not be seeing any at all. More than likely the cast and crew will move filming to either Mexico or Canada to film. With all of the news revolving around Marvel's upcoming film projects like 'Thor,' Iron Man 2' 'The Avengers,' and 'Captain America,' it should come as no surrise to anyone that Warner Brothers is under heavy pressure to begin building their own franchises. The 'Green Lantern' movie has been scheduled to premiere in theater's in Summer 2011, directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) and starring Ryan Reynolds.
Are you looking forward to a 'Green Lantern' movie? Do you feel that since they have not even started filming, that the film may not make it's Summer 2011 release?

I bet this Green Lantern film will be a hit, like Star Wars when that first came out!
I know this is getting drawn out, but they still don't want to rush anything. The film could be huge, but not if they fast-track it and are lazy with post production.

I wonder how popular this movie will be with the general public and the fans or even if it gets made at all.

Of course it's going to be delayed...it's a DC movie that's not animated.
NO!!! i am so excited for this movie. but as long as they take their time and make it well its fine.
This is surprising I just heard Ryan say last week that he was already working on this film =/ and it was taking up most of his time right now.

Yeah, now that is the way think.
I'm starting to think this is a ruse to keep Ryan Reynolds from being available for Deadpool.
So I guess the green lantern's real weakness is the color green.

I hope it's coming out in Summer 2011 because then there are three movies for me to look forward to in summer of 2011. Green Lantern, Thor, and Transformers 3.
