'Game of Thrones' Director Alan Taylor Signs Onto 'Thor 2'

Taylor's experience directing fantasy epic 'Game of Thrones' may come in handy very soon.

If you have tuned into our podcast, you may have heard us mention that Marvel Studios' Thor sequel was, up until recently, without a director. The film has already gone through two directors; Brian Kirk and more recently Patty Jenkins (Monster), tied to its production. The film saw the departures of both directors over "creative differences," respectively. Now, the movie may be back on track.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Marvel Studios had signed on director Alan Taylor to helm the film's sequel. Taylor is best known for having directed two episodes of HBO's popular series Game of Thrones. If you've watched the series then you already know that Taylor has some experience directing fantasy epics. Taylor was responsible for directing two episodes of Game of Thrones' first season and is signed to direct four episodes of the series' second season.

Including Taylor, two of the three directors that had been tied to the Thor sequel have a great deal of experience directing "fantasy epics" -- pretty appropriate considering that's exactly what a Thor movie should be. Perhaps Thor 2 will be set primary in Asgard to take advantage of Taylor's experience adapting a fantasy world?

Not many details are known about Thor 2 aside from the returning cast. The film is scheduled to be released November 15, 2013. What would you like to see happen in the sequel to Thor? Would you like to see it set mostly in Asgard, or on Earth? Which of Thor's adversaries would you like to see make their appearance in the upcoming movie?
