Things aren't going well for Barry.  Is there any hope for him?  Can anyone help him?  Will he accept anyone's help?

I feel like I'm being a little biased.  Most of us do want Barry to be back.  It's great that he is but it hasn't really been a joyous occasion.  I do have to say that I am very curious to see where this is going.  Will Barry be able to stay?  Will he have to sacrifice himself for the good of others (again)?  How about that last page?

Barry is Death, Aquaman is a flying zombie....Martian Manhunter is a flying zombie as well, and old Supes, and GL Katma.... is it just me?

My favorite part was when Flash leaves Superman in the dust. The dialog was simple yet it was the coolest moment in the comic (in my opinion)

Hmmmm, let me think about this...

Flash Rebirth - Barry comes back from the dead after making the supreme sacrifice, only to find out he's been 'bonded' with some sort of symbiotic creature that could use his body for untold destruction and death, and everyone treats the main character like he's god himself and fawns over every word he utters... there are various retcons throughout every issue basically rewriting over 30 years of issues and disrespecting all previous writers because they don't fit in with how the current writer wants the characters history to be...

Green Lantern Rebirth - Hal comes back from the dead after making the supreme sacrifice, only to find out he's was 'bonded' with some sort of symbiotic creature that used his body for untold destruction and death, and everyone treats the main character like he's god himself and fawns over every word he utters... there are various retcons throughout every issue basically rewriting over 30 years of issues and disrespecting all previous writers because they don't fit in with how the current writer wants the characters history to be...

Yup, this is classic Johns alright... the man can't have an original thought in his brain.... seriously... next up we'll have Geoff Johns working on Captain America... i can see it now....

Captain America Rebirth - Steve Rogers comes back from the dead, only to find out he's been 'bonded' with some sort of symbiotic creature that could use his body for untold destruction and death. The Super Soldier Syrum has been retconeed so it was now created by using some DNA from the Venom symbiote and Cap finds out that as he's returned from the dead, he now has lapses when the symbiote DNA can take control over his body and use it for evil. Everyone treats the main character like he's god himself and fawns over every word he utters... there are various retcons throughout every issue basically rewriting over 30 years of issues and disrespecting all previous writers because they don't fit in with how the current writer wants the characters history to be...

Ugh, sorry, i can't stand it anymore...

*throws the issue of Flash #3 in the bin*

Seriously, enough of the Geoff Johns worship crap... the man hasn't had an original thought since he left pre-school

I've liked this book so far....Barry Allen was before my time so I don't really know that much about him but if you're mad about things being retconned Methos then the only bit of advice I can give you is to get over it....you can't have characters that in some cases have been around for 60 plus years stay original and meaningful without some retconning here and there....it would be nearly impossible for every writer to acknowledge every thing every other writer has done before him

You forgot one: Main character's arch nemesis inexplicably returns from beyond the grave and reveals that he was behind all the trouble so far, despite being freaking dead for years.

Letting go the fact that it is pattern made, I  relatively liked this issue, and I agree with gambler, the race was cool.

I think this run has been great. I think part of it is that people are saying that its exactly like GL: Rebirth, which I haven't read yet.

@Methos: Personally I can care less what writers you like or do not like and I'm not trying to get you to like Johns the thing that bugs me about your hating is your reasoning......I highly doubt that Johns is trying to disrespect former writers but what I do him doing is filling in gaps that were left there. Saying that Jordan didn't get his ring from Abin Sur would be something to be pissed about but showing what was going on with Sur, the Red Lanterns and the fear he had during that time gives TODAYS reader a different outlook on the characters and world.

You have made it obvious that you have been a fan of GL since you were young and that is great and also that you think Johns is the devil or whatever. but at the end of the day its a business that the guys at DC are running and if a character needs an update to get more readers involed so be it, that is good for comics in general!. For example Dick Grayson has been my favorite character since I was 4 years old and now he is Batman.....I personally don't like it and wanted him to remain as Nightwing but I have to suck that up now don't I.

On the note of what Methos started, I went back to check GL: Rebirth, and guess what happened at the end of issue 3!? That's right, Sinestro showed up, revealing he was behind everything!

So I'm calling right now, by the end of issue 4, Barry will be purged of the Black Flash power, since in GL:R, that's what happened to Hal with Parallax.

It does seem a bit like deja'vu. :/

At least it is not Wally....

Much as I love watching Flashes outrun Superman, that was crap.

I'm left wondering when Barry got to be as fast as Wally.

EDIT: And in fairness to Professor Zoom (who oddly enough as also killed by his nemesis via neck snap), he showed up again just two years after his death, again in the 90s and again in 2005.  Unlike Sinestro (as far as I'm aware), his time traveling meant he was never very dead.

I'm a Johns fan, so I'm definitely staying with it as long as he writes it.  The last page definitely wasn't what I was expecting.  By the end of this, I hope that the entire Flash-U of characters is back, alive and better than ever.

I've been liking this run but I don't think that means I'm kissing Geoff Johns...behind.  I think in all my years of reading comics, I've come to terms that sometimes writers change or have to change the characters' histories.  Take Spider-Man for example.  Like most people, he was one of my first experiences with superheroes.  Spider-Man will always have a special place with me because I grew up with him.  That being said, when "Brand New Day" came about, yes, it re-wrote his history but I accepted it.  I have been enjoying the stories since.  It sucks when a character's history is just disregarded.  What it comes down to at the end of the day is, are the stories enjoyable?  It sucks that Barry has this bad crap happening to him but if everything was roses how interesting would Barry be?  We've seen the "return" of Barry a few times (even if it wasn't really him) so what would make this interesting?  Having Barry's life re-written and turned upside is what is making this interesting.  I'm not crazy about the self-pity.  I'm not crazy about the Black Flash stuff.  If Barry came back and everything was okie-dokie, how would that be interesting?  Let's see what the heck is going to happen next.
