Okay so it's true, I sleep with the light on. Yeah, yeah make fun of me all you want but I can't help it! I was really excited about this when I found out it was coming out last Wednesday. I had so been looking forward to 'Escape From Wonderland" because I just loved the Grimm Fairy Tales series so much. Then I read it. Excuse me while I groan a little. However, like I have often said, it is not my opinion that is the most important; it is yours.  Did you guys read it? Did you like this issue or did you feel it was not necessary?

Wait...you loved Grimm Fairy Tales? Hmm, that's a variance in taste I guess...I just feel that Zenescope focuses on art rather than story, I'm a story guy, not art, I mean sure the covers look pretty and maybe some of those characters would make good pin-ups on my wall but otherwise I don't think that stuff's for me. Nice review though, loving the text at the bottom there, makes me feel like my deficiencies (lack of sound) are being targeted :D

@Gambler: Thanks. :) I don't think it's worth checking out, I wouldn't pay the 2 bucks, but hey! That's just me,

I'm glad you felt that I had you in mind when I added the ticker. If I review Vertigo, I'll be sure to add text more regularly. Ha. I like Grimm Fairy Tales. Especially Beauty and the Beast!

It may not be you, it's probably me. It may be the room I am in. I feel like the videos I have shot in the fish bowl sound better.

I was wondering how a #0 would stand out.  I thought it would really be #1, but numbered differently to influence sales..... so it seems that they made a Guide to Escape From Wonderland.  I have to admit, I tend to like those sorts of issues.  The art looks nice, and the twists on classic characters sound intriguing.  Although, the Alice in Wonderland theme has been used an awful lot.  It's also been used in horror themes before.  So hopefully this series has something to set it apart from the rest.  Still looks pretty creepy...

Never read any of the Grimm Fairy Tales, but always wanted too. Always appreciated the art that Eric did.

Are you saying you didn't have me in mind when you added it? I figured it was due to all those requests for something like it months back. Anyways, I tried a few issues of Grimm Fairy Tales and I've been working at fixing up all the incorrect crediting and what-not but the series and spin-offs just aren't my style...I mean come on, you can't say this isn't just a story about naked women after that Red Queen one-shot.

Also, it could never hurt to review some Vertigo, you might have to have a "Viewer Discretion is Advised" label at the beginning of the vid but the comics are amazing! Bang! Tango just published the finale issue (#6) on Wednesday, amazing stuff, the ending is soooo...well, it's so Vertigo-like, it's the last thing you ever expected or wanted but after all is said and done you realize it's perfect. I would review the comics myself but I can't do video reviews and nobody likes reading these days so the written reviews seem like wasted effort.

I'll probably pick it up just for the art. A good story coupled with art is always the objective, but sometimes the art is good enough :)

I considered picking this up, but decided  against it. It seemed kind of "all flash, no bang".

If you want this type of story except well-written and not reliant on ridiculous borderline-pornographic images, check out "The Unwritten" by Mike Carey. It's only two issues in and the first is only a dollar.

lol Love the review Babs. Too funny. Me I willingly watch horror movies in the dark to get scared (The Omen and The Thing are teh best for that spooky effect). I haven't tried reading my horror comics before I sleep though. Maybe I'll try that and see what happens.

I picked up Grimm Fairy Tales #1 when it came out for the werewolf. After that, I was just showing my support for a horror book. Good art and ok story but a good premise. Children's story turned horror story. I kept collecting it till the end of the series. I stopped after Wonderland came out. I lost interest. Still its great to see Zenescope out there. Wish I had met the Zenescope girls at Comic-Con. :D

Hmmm....  Not to sure how to say this so I'm just going to jump right in.  As to where I think your review was good for the most part, I feel that you missed a few key points about the wonderland series.  First this that the house is haunted.  This is not the case.  The house is where Calie's (now Carroll) mother, Alice, committed suicide.  The reasons for this are twisted and a little lengthy so we wont go into them (If anyone wants to know more about that see return to Wonderland).  The only importance the house holds is that it is the current location of the looking glass which is the doorway to wonderland.  The only other thing was that the reason she goes back into wonderland which for those who have not read the stories, I won't ruin it.  Again overall a good review but I feel that some key story points where missed in the review.

Oh and there is absolutely nothing wrong with sleeping with the light on.  It keeps all those things that make one afraid of the dark away... Or does it?

The Cheshire cat makes one want to go out and get a cute lovable kitty doesn't he?
