If you have been enjoying the BEFORE WATCHMEN titles from DC Comics, or you have been waiting to get them collected in trade format, then you'll be happy to hear that you'll be able to buy the collected editions come next June, 2013 (if you are so inclined). According to a source, the titles will be collected in four volumes, each volume collecting two of the eight series released by DC Comics based on the classic characters created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

The first of these four volumes will collect BEFORE WATCHMEN: MINUTEMEN and BEFORE WATCHMEN: SILK SPECTRE and will be available for purchase in hardcover on July 23rd for less than $30.00 on Amazon. Volume two will collect BEFORE WATCHMEN: COMEDIAN and BEFORE WATCHMEN: RORSCHACH and will be available July, 16th 2013, volume three will collect BEFORE WATCHMEN: NITE OWL and BEFORE WATCHMEN: DR. MANHATTAN for a July 23rd release, and finally volume four will collect BEFORE WATCHMEN: OZYMANDIAS and CURSE OF THE CRIMSON CORSAIR and is set for release on July 30th, 2013.

To accompany the hardcover releases of their BEFORE WATCHMEN books, DC also plans to unveil their 'Deluxe edition' of the original WATCHMEN series by Alan Moore. The WATCHMEN: DELUXE EDITION will be released on June 4th, 2013 and will feature a brand new WATCHMEN cover featuring each one of the Watchmen characters as well as sketches of the characters and interior pages of the comic, extra bonus material and a brand-new introduction by WATCHMEN artist Dave Gibbons. The collected edition will be made available for those interested also for less than $30.00.

The question remains whether the publisher has plans to collect BEFORE WATCHMEN: MOLOCH, a two issue series as well as BEFORE WATCHMEN: DOLLAR BILL, which has yet to see a release. It is interesting that DC has decided to separate the collection and release them in pairs rather than into their own, individual books. What do you think of the news? Is this a series you would like to add to your personal collection? Which of these collected prequels are you most looking forward to?
