So before today I really was not aware of comic creator David Malki's masterpiece web-comic strip, 'Wondermark.' I think I may just have to run out and pick this up in hardcover when it hits store shelves next week, March 24th. The comic, which Malki publishes online at Wondermark.com is a series of short strips with a variety of characters and is stylistically inspired by the Victorian Era. Now, while the strip might look like it has taken cues from the eighteen and nineteen hundreds, it deals with a variety of modern issues. The most recent, for example (which I have included below) is a great example of this. Based on the image, it is pretty obvious that the Victorian Era heavily influenced the content of the comic strip in terms of artistic style.

I personally found the scene (above) to be hilarious and satirical, and I immediately became addicted to the strip, and proceeded to digg into Malki's web-comic archives. People are often asking me about new comics to read that are not "mainstream," and I think this one is perfect, especially if you do not feel like waiting forever for a next issue. This book consists of humorous comic strips that can easily be devoured in one sitting, and do not relate to one another. Sounds yummy? If you need more convincing, be sure to check out creator David Malki's website for more comic strips. The coolest part about this is that they are up there for free, so you know exactly what you are buying.  Check out the preview to the book, published by Dark Horse, below!
