It seems like there's always some big event happening in the X-universe.  This time, Norman Osborn and the Dark Avengers are involved as well.  We all know where this is leading, the birth of another "dark" team.  Does this issue live up to the hype or is it just another excuse on Marvel's part to try to sell an over-sized issue?  We were both compelled to review this issue.  Here's our separate takes on it.

So there you have two separate unbiased reviews.  We didn't tell each other what we thought before we did them.  I'll admit, I wasn't sure if we'd agree or have opposite views on this. Do you like where this story is going?  Do you think the new law against mutants will pass in the Marvel universe?  What do you think Scott's reaction will be to Emma's participation in Norman's "plan"?  Don't you agree that Marc Silvestri is simply amazing?

YYYYEEEESSSSS!!!!  I am so glad you both like Marc Silvestri!!  I've always loved, loved, loved Silvestri's art.  Had the fortune of reading X-Men "back in the day" when he was on X-Men.  His renditions of Storm and Rogue--so fantastic.  Did I mention I like Silvestri?  I recall you stating Silvestri would step in on this and I HOPE I can find the book today.   Hopefully the story will be just as good and it might be according to the reviews.    I so agree, G-man, come back to the X-Men, Marc!

It can be the next Messiah CompleX for all I care, just as long it's not Messiah War.

So if i haven't read any of the Dark Avengers before, or New Avengers or the only Dark Reign book i am reading is Deadpool, this will be a good book for me to understand or am i just going to have to pick-up a Dark Avengers hardcover?

What happened that everyone liked so much? It was just ok for me. I read it, and still felt like Fraction can't write. As Xerox-Kitty said in another thread it felt contrived, like using Domino as the reason why everything just falls into place.

This book is definitely a must buy but I would have given it a 4.5 out of 5

I like Silvestri's art in general but in this issue there were a bunch of assistant pencil artists and it shows in a few pages. I guess they were running out of time. For me, Silvestri's best is still Cilvil War : THE INITIATIVE & X-Men-Messiah Complex : Chapter 1.

To me the story felt like it was dragging a bit but was important to cover what was going on thoughout the city. I'm not saying at all that I didn't like this issue I just think given more time, he could (and would) have done more.

I wonder if Noah-Varr will play a roll in this crossover?

I said it in another thread but this is the way Uncanny X-men should be all the time
I agree with both of you on this 5 out of 5 one of the best X-books I've read in a long time
It's amazing how much of a difference it makes when you don't have to look at Land's art, I think Fraction's great but Land's artwork was just to distracting to fully take in Fraction's writing

I really enjoyed the book. I liked all the X books this week, except for X-Factor. It was pretty lacking.

I've got to reread this... I thought it was good when I gave it a quick read at work but it sounds like if I actually take my time and read it... then it's awesome

Just seeing so many mutants was good enough for me, Hellion, Onyxx, Toad, man I haven't seen these guy in action for a while, so that was great. Oh and poor poor Pixie is her second mutation getting beat up, because she is pretty good at it.

I think my frustration with Dark Avengers this week spilled over into this issue, and ruined it for me. I loved the art, but I was just in a bad mood when I read it and since this issue did the exact same thing that pissed me off, it never changed.

What also worries me is that in the original art for this cover, Noh-Varr was in it, but they removed him...

If you go look at the cover of this issue, he is no longer there.
