Following up on the Avengers movie story that I had reported on for you guys earlier this week; is a story straight from the execs at Marvel. We know that there will be an Avengers movie, and that screenwriter Zak Penn told a panel at a film festival in Los Angeles that he will be working on it this summer;

however, there is the question of how he is planning on linking his Avengers film with Iron Man 2 , Thor and the Captain America films that are set for release respectively. At the Saturn Awards, we heard some information straight from Doug Finberg on what we can expect from the new movies.

Captain America finally has a title! That's right, according to Finberg the film will be entitled The First Avenger: Captain America . The title of this film obviously acts as a bridge between it and the script for The Avengers film that Zak Penn will be writing. In an exclusive interview with Sci Fi Wire , Finberg noted that his primary goal at the end of the day is to make it obvious to people that this is a Captain America movie.

"It's something we're considering and really at the end of the day, everyone is going to know that he is Captain America ,..."

The good news is that Marvel wants to create a new sort of a franchise by building these characters own stories in their own films, and eventually combining them into one film; The Avengers. However, this only accounts for three of the original Avengers team, so what about all those other Avengers? According to Finberg, that idea isn't totally left field.

"That's not off the table,...I think that really remains to be seen," he said.

We can anticipate the great Kenneth Branagh to be behind the Thor movie. This is just too cool. Branagh, who has many great film role notches under his belt ( Hamlet, Valkyrie ) is

considered a really awesome actor, and he has been working directly with Marvel executive Kevin Feige to ensure that Thor's character is properly portrayed on the big screen. I don't like Thor and even I am excited about this!

"Ultimately, the final expectation, the final verdict, is with the fans, and that's something that the team of Marvel does a phenomenal job at actually making the best movie from the material they can."

I'll cheers to that, Mr. Finley. So long as you ensure the fans that Marvel will be running the show, then I feel I have no doubt in that the fans of the comics will surely not be disappointed.

What do you guys think of the big news? Are you excited yet?

Hemsworth is playing loki, Kenneth Branagh could not play the role of thor, he is way to old and frail looking, not that it has anything to do with his acting abilities, he just isnt Thor

(DC HERE)

I thought even in the beginning Kenneth was a potential if they couldnt find anyone else to play the role. So ive simply stuck to that knowledge cause i want Ken to play Thor alot more than seeing Chris.

I think that if Iron Man is any indication of what we can expect from Marvel movies then we are in for a treat. I just wish DC could get their act together with some of the properties I would love to see on the big screen such as Flash, Aquaman, WW, A GOOD SUPERMAN!

Still not happy with Zack "I f'ed up the X-Men" Penn being the writer for the Avengers.  He's an egotistical ass.  I hope Marvel does well with the other movies, I'm afraid--very afraid--for The Avengers.

Chris Hemsworth is Thor, Tom Hiddleston is Loki & Kenneth Brannagh is directing.  But if it makes you happy, Babs, he did direct that version of Hamlet he starred in too :)

Yeah, Kirk's dad is playing Thor, it's really old news. And Kenneth Branagh's involvement is even older news...

And we've known the title of the captain america movie for a while now too...
